No good place for this. OU won softball world series, proably greatest team ever. 50+ wins 1 loss. To Baylor 4-3..

Obviously not a fan of ou, but I was very impressed by what their girls said in the post game media session.

I've never had a great feeling about Yormark, and this idea confirmed it for me.

I remember Patterson was floating this idea for Texas before he got fired.

The yearly rivalry setup is dumb. Penn St doesn't have one.

True. Who is Penn State's rivalry? Before joining the Big 10 it was Pittsburgh; whereas, other schools had some kind of history. I guess one could say the same for Nebraska before keaving Big 12 it was Oklahoma. Those were some great games. I see your point, though. My point was Saban was complaining about to having to play his rivals: Tennessee, and Auburn (along with LSU. I wasn't aware that LSU was a big rival of Alabama other than being competitive). Adding to that it appeared that Saban wanted to play Vanderbilt every week because a 9 game was, in his words, "too difficult." The SEC's 8th or 9th week scheduled patsy is embarrassing. With all points considered, I thought the Big 10 handled the scheduling better. When conferences add teams (and money $$$), there will be changes. One of the changes is losing the rivalries that made college sports fun and entertaining. Then again, I'm in a demographic that is not important to the money makers and young network executives. I still prefer the Kilgore Rangerettes ? to staged, music acts ? at halftime of Cowboys Thanksgiving game.

Rangerettes are nice however always liked the Apache Belles better. Kilgore vs Tyler was always nice. Too long of a drive now days.

I myself like the 8 game conference schedule, but not for the patsies. I like variety in the schedule and the more OOC games you have the greater that variety. That would put me in the 1+7 camp. The B1G model, like I said, is stupid as it has 10 teams with 1 +8, 2 teams with 2+7 and 4 teams with 0+9 conference scheduling. How is that even remotely fair? Its the most convoluted thing I've seen at all levels of football. I would take the 3+6 model (which I don't like, F aggy) over that every day and twice on Sunday.

For those of you who are not familiar with the rivalry of the two schools, it is fierce. The two drill teams have nicknames for each other: Whore Corp vs Puche Bells.

Same with UT-Arlington (Mavericks). Daingerfield product Gary Lewis went there in 78-82 and was drafted by the Packers. He was with the Packers for several years, making a name for himself blocking PATs and FGs. Lewis was 6'9 and played center for Daingerfield's state champion basketball team in '77. His ticket was punched in football though.

UT-Arlington abandoned football not long after Lewis left. High school teams would play there (AISD and HS playoffs). It is a nice stadium.
