**Running College Football Updates Thread**

I stopped watching professional sports because of free agency and ridiculous contracts. Players had no loyalty to fans just the $. Not that I blame them but it just wasnt the same for me to cheer on a team the players cared little about. There was a disconnect, well for me at least. I can see the writing on the wall with college now. NIL and Transfer portals is basically becoming the same thing. Again from a player perspective I cant blame them but from a fan perspective, well mine atleast, it tarnishes it. I remember Worthy when he was going through a slump, rumors kept surfacing he was transfering to Rileys USC team and NIL was the major reason. Nothing against Worthy but compare him to J Whitt. J Whitt was an unselfish player and in my eyes a true fans player. Worthy even though he was very good never gave the loyalty vibe like a J Whitt did. Anyways if this keeps up it will ruin the NCAA for me

Its already difficult for me when there are tons of students who cant pay back their student loans or even get a good job with a degree but its insane when you are asked to donate your money to NIL funds so some high school kid can buy a lambo. Disconnect

Nearly 20 percent of the nation's 43 million federal student loan borrowers are in default—which is typically defined as having gone at least 270 days without a payment—and millions more are behind on their payments.

My thoughts are
1. Any athlete that earns over $200K in NIL is ineligible for a scholarship. Give that money to the sports that don't have full rides.
2. Any athlete that enters the transfer portal twice in two years needs to sit or lose a year of eligibility.
3. Parents need to educate their children not to take school loans and choose a degree that is viable in the job market. Not some philosophical BS.

Lots of stories about the BIG12 in early negotiations to add FSU and Clemson and other ACC schools.

This would seem to imply that the SEC and B1G are not interested in adding either.

I can see how adding the top ACC teams to the BIG12 would slightly increase the BIG12 per team payout, but it's hard to believe by enough to justify the cost of leaving the ACC early.

If Florida State and Clemson can't get an SEC/B1G invite then there lawsuits and efforts to escape the GOR seam silly.

Oregon now has four WR commitments. If they get some more then we know they're NIL is buying everything.
You need more examples? It is a known fact now that Phil Knight has a blank check for football. He wants a Natty before his days are over.

Lots of smoke about BIG12 grabbing the top ACC teams.

Time will tell, but unless the GOR magically disappears I don't understand how this can make sense.

I really don't get it. The ACC is superior to the Big 12 now, as far as quality programs. Why move at all?

There's no way the report isn't clickbait. That move for FSU and Clemson makes zero sense, unless there's some legs to this private equity story going around the B12 (super doubtful bc it's at best the 4th best conference and no PE is going to dole out SEC/B10 type $$$ for schools like tech, Baylor, etc)

I would think that if the top acc teams moved to the big12 that the per team payout would probably go up slightly for the acc teams. No way 2x which is being thrown around. The acc gor is for 12 more years, if the TV rights keep going up for the big12, then the long term acc tv deal gets worse with respect to the other conferences.

One other thing they try to say is that the big12 will get lots more money by somehow selling it's conference name. I have no idea how much they would get, but if it turns out to be significant, I'm sure the other conferences would follow suit.

So yeah, maybe this would make some sense if it weren't for the huge cost of leaving the acc. It also seems like if this makes sense , then what would make even more sense is to scrap both the acc and big12 and form a new conference with the top 16 schools from the 2 conferences.

It seems like a pattern, every year fsu and clemson see how screwed they are by the acc gor, so they complain and crank up the rumor mill. The difference this time is that they are actually bringing the acc to court to try to invalidate the gor. From all accounts the gor is iron clad, so the odds of this succeeding are low. If it fails then the cost of the lawsuits makes their financials even worse.

It's a slow motion train wreck that people paying attention understand won't end well for fsu and clemson.

Correct me if I'm wrong but T Boone Pickens was the same way with Okie Lite. That didn't happen. The only good thing blank checks are for are the recipients.

True, though some of that expense did kinda raise OSU up a few levels. But they could never seemingly get over the hump on a consistent basis.

Pickens wanted to help bring championships. It ended up with just his name being plated onto buildings and facilities.
