With 20/20 hindsight, would you give up Jamaal Charles if it meant you could get Adrian Peterson?

I think it’s an obvious no lose situation. The offense may have changed some with Peterson. If you make me chose with my burnt orange colored glasses, I would still take Jamaal. I’m partial to who he became as a player and as a person.

Given he picked Texas, it’s easy for me to say Jamaal. He was a bit underutilized at Texas.

Vince+Adrian Peterson would’ve made the greatest backfield off all time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but iirc, Peterson's freshman season, hoe u beat us; and he had a significant part in that. It was the only loss of the season. We go on to beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl. My thought is had Peterson chose Texas, we beat hoe u and win the national championship. Plus still go undefeated the following year and win another national championship; which we did regardless. And who knows? Maybe having AP on the roster entices VY to stay and attempt a 3-Peat. BUT if "if" was a fifth we'd all be drunk! So to answer the question, the only answer really is "no", you do not give up Jamaal. He actually played here, was a great ambassador for Texas football and went on to have a HOF career at the next level.

We wouldn’t need Charles. Peterson is hands down the most scary RB I’ve seen since 2000. Bush is close. You got nervous when they touched the ball. Charles was darn near close. Charles was also amazing but wasn’t utilized in a way to maximize his talent in college. In the NFL, when healthy, his talent shined.

I hate Peterson picked OU but he’s no doubt one of the RB greats.

Can you imagine Benson+Peterson+VY in a backfield? Then potentially Peterson+VY+Charles? We didn’t need Peterson in 2005/06 but he got us in 2004/05.

Peterson on the Longhorns in 2005/06 makes it the arguably best college team of all time to me. And definitely the best offense ever.
