I can go along with your pumping since I'm excited about next year. The Gilbert hire and recruiting are both positives for the future. However, I found your pumping on the QB's was little too much for my sunshine level and you stated that some will argue with you, i am happy to oblige.

I may prove your point that I don't know diddly, but I remember this is coming from the guy who posted all last off season about how Stoopes was going to be a good QB in 2015. You may capitalize "experienced", but Swoopes and Heard have not proven themselves as college passers and just because they are in new system doesn't mean that they will get the job done. Also, just because Locksley and Merrick have been looking awesome doesn't mean they will be ready as passers next year.

I do believe someone will emerge as a good QB because of Gilbert's track record. He had Jimmy Garofalo for his junior and senior who became an high NFL draft pick which was not bad for a two star recruit.This is Gilbert's fourth team in four years which speaks on how he's been able to advance.

LOL!  I hope everyone understood my "don't know diddly" remark was tongue-in-cheek.

Swoopes was a disappointment as the starter last year, but he did wind up being the leading scorer on the team and who can argue that he wasn't productive?

That said, and this always amazes me, how can anyone believe that players don't improve with time and experience?  It was also said that Heard was the QB messiah we needed and it was blithely said, even though the kid was just a RS freshman.

The reality of that is just that - reality.

Besides, Gilbert's offense doesn't require the QB to be RGIII - just to be a game manager.  And the X's and O's of his offense is exactly why Heard will shine - using his feet and his average arm.  We will be just fine at QB as long as Heard Gives Locksley time to mature and get some snaps. 

And how can anyone say we will win only 7 games?  Baylor and TCU will be annihilated with graduation losses and we beat OU with LAST years team.

Texas is on the ascension and the rest of the Big 12 is on the decline.  Even ND was hit with big losses.

My concern is that Heard will "lazy" his way to the bottom of the depth chart. He seems like he is one of those "entitled" guys that doesnt have to work hard. We need him and we need him to work hard. Come on guys....convince me that I am wrong and I will be a happy camper.

Lazy is the last word you can use to describe Heard.  He's a tireless worker; always trying to improve his game...

I think we will be competitive.  It's tough to go too far out on the limb though since not a single one of us has seen what the new offense looks like.  Almost has to be better though, right?

Plus, young players playing means mistakes will be made.  It's gonna happen.

These are two of several reasons I have for not agreeing with this idea that Charlie has a minimum amount of games he must win.  That is not the way to do it under these circumstances.

I've read a couple of different times that in the past Heard did not put enough time in the film room studying and Locksley and Merrick worked a lot harder during their red shirt season. I don't care who wins the job as long as we have good QB play. The only QB that I would be surprised to win the job this season would be if Swoopes won the job. I do hope we keep Swoopes as a short down QB.

You mean we haven't seen what Gilbert's offense looks like with our players.  You can look at Baylor's and Tulsa's offenses, if you want to know what the schemes look like.

I don't think it can be argued that our administration and, yes, the UT fanbase has been dysfunctional.  The incredible disconnect between 2005 excellence and the 2013 Divison II players simply wasn't and still isn't understood.

We have become as unrealistic and delusional as the aggys - as far as our expectations.

At least most of us have.

A = Heard's freshmen year, B = Vince's freshmen year. Let's also remember Vince had a lot more talent surrounding him, especially his O-line.

I admit I'm a huge Heard fan. Most forget he didn't spend much time with the 1st team last spring, which is totally on the coaches. I think the Cal game may have spoiled some people thinking he would do that every game.

I'm sure everyone (ESPN, fans) doubting him is doing nothing but building that fire within. If I'm wrong, I'll own up to it but I truly believe he will show us why he was a 2x HS champ.

True and IMHO, VY was one of the greatest college players ever. While I wasn't saying Heard will be better than VY, I will be happy if he comes close.

If this offense is the same type as what Baylor runs then it is more about your receivers and their speed.  Do we have the receivers that have the type of speed to make this offense be successful next year?  When Briles first began at Baylor I seem to remember Kendall Wright being the offensive weapon until he was able to get other players into his system.

True.  It was unfair to compare the finished VY to the freshman Heard.

And, yes, I would take half as good as VY all day.  That's because VY was an alien and I don't mean an illegal alien.

So, not only do we not know what our players will look like in his offense, neither does he.

But I think this is understood and speculation about who will QB his offense is derived from his previous jobs and knowledge of the abilities of the QB's we have on campus.
