I'm a little surprised this site has gone to the pay model at this point in time. Seems it would have been a better plan to wait a few more months, build a stronger base, and actually get some more activity and especially some more content before asking for payment.  Best of luck to Horn Sports however. I hope the strategy pays off.

Maybe he realized that the bill for this site would quickly escalate with the continued rapid growth this site has seen? Maybe he didn't think $5 per month was asking that much from people who claim to love the free product he's provided them for years? 

I really don't understand why people are still complaining. If you don't want to set aside $5 a month for all Horn Sports content, don't. You're still going to have access to a lot of information, discussion and rapport. You simply won't have access to the inside information and large column pieces. You know...the stuff that takes a ton of work, patience and sleepless nights to complete/acquire.

I think we're doing a pretty fine job of getting along.

This site has had more meaningful upgrades in 6 months than other similar Longhorn sites have had in 13 years. This site does not have the backing of money bohemouths like ESPN, Yahoo, etc., and those upgrades cost money.

For the most part, these upgrades have been paid for out of the pockets of this site's owners.

I am not questioning anyone's financial ability or inability to pay $5/mo. Different circumstances for all, no doubt. I do, however, recognize that this is a business, if this business wants to have legitimate reporting from real people covering Longhorn sports, and not merely "insider" info from an anonymous "Friend of Bevo, (no offense FoB,)" there is a cost associated with that.

For me, (again, for me only,) $5 is worth it and I've paid more for less.

Enjoy the community here. If you can't pay, enjoy the free stuff and hopefully there will be enough banter here to keep you satisfied. Who knows? One day you may feel the need to open that wallet and splurge. We all hope so!
