There is a yellow, scrolling Ticker at the top of this page & the home page. It is refreshed with UT athletics info on a daily basis.

The Ticker is part of our effort to make HornSports an information hub for all Texas fans. When Longhorns get online to look for information/updates, we want them to think of HornSports first.

Over the past several days, here are headlines that have run on the Ticker:

- MBB win over TCU

- MBB win over WVU

- WBB loss to Baylor

- WBB win over Texas Tech

- Men's Tennis win over Arkansas

- UT announces Spring Game set for April 18th

- Football announces hiring of Jay Norvell

- Louis Brown decommits

- MJ McFarland to transfer

- Curtis Riser to transfer

There have been others, but that is representative of the information that is run on the Ticker.

Question: How long do you want a Ticker item to run before it is removed from the scroll? We're constantly updating the Ticker - adding and deleting items in an effort to keep the content "fresh". IYO, how long should a Ticker item remain in the queue before it's stale?

I think it depends on the info.

If you’re saying a big time commit happened you can leave that up there and maybe hot link to one of the recruiting guys reviews of the commit.

I'd say up to two weeks as long as no one else commits during that time.

If you’re running MBB wins vs XYZ and also MBB loss to ABC I'd limit it to just the most recent.

If you’re running tennis team beats La Tech I think that would run its course in a day or two.

I could see baseball season being an issue with this as they play several games over few days.

I think we should put an end to the BS joeywa keeps posting about barbecue and such. He's way up there in sasquatch land somewhere. How do we know he's actually doing this himself and not eavesdropping with a camera on his neighbor's grill?

Have we ever seen joeywa and the barbecue in the same picture? Just sayin' . . .

I thought we all lived in sasquatch land.

I would like a live in-game ticker if possible. For example, instead of using Yahoo Sports or ESPN to check on live up to the minute scores, a live ticker would be useful so it prevents me from switching back and forth from different websites.

Is this the proper thread to ask about posting boobs?? Aaron wanted me to ask.  :D

I see it towards the top of the home page (Texas Updates) but not here in the forums.

Cotcher probably broke the new toy already. Geez.

I love the ticker. It allows me to get info without having to open up another tab in my browser or additional links. I think it may be a great idea to use an RSS Feed of all things Longhorn. You can implement texassports, twitter, espn, etc.... I think this will keep your ticker fresh.
