With the losses to Ohio State and Florida, Texas likely needs to win out to make the playoffs. Had Texas played a lesser opponent in week 1, they likely would make the playoffs with another loss.

All the talk about not penalizing a team for playing a tougher schedule is just talk at this point. We will see how the playoff selection goes, but from a playoffs perspective playing a top out of conference team isn't strategic.

The dimwit Heather Dinich still had ousux in her CFP midyear projection yesterday. That should tell you something. At least she isn't calling for Clemson and Penn St in the final anymore. 🤣 🤡

As a fan, I want to see games like the Texas vs Ohio State. I understand playing cream puffs but this year was pretty bad as a season ticket holder.

The committee claims it will take things like this into account. For now, it is just hot air but let's give them a chance to back that up with action.

Agree.

I think playing at least one marquee game OOC each year helps do several things.

1) Builds your resumé. Even as we lost, we only lost by 7 at their place. And we had a chance to win late.

2) Recruits want to play in games like this. The fanfare and hype is crazy, but that is what they yearn for.

3) Brings positive spotlight to Texas. We're part of the upper echelon of CFB. Of course we need to win games like this, too.

I love these games. We need to learn how to win more of them.
