"placing the "T" back in texas" should not just symbolize our forthcoming gridiron expectations. actually, this "quote" should indeed become the new "standard" throughout the 40 acres. the new standard of overall excellence.

therefore, all of "longhorn nation" should hereby cringe... at the profound thought of aTm acquiring a new state of the art football stadium "scoreboard" that as of now, they are now claiming.... shall rise as the largest "scoreboard" within the state of texas, as well as all of college football, upon their new stadium. ok, so now let me have it! all this rhetoric about a forthcoming "scoreboard" that has as of yet to be erected? well, just think about it "longhorn nation".... apparently, aTm has thought enough about it to no longer continue to play second fiddle to "texas".... now you catch my drift.

"standards" are now changing within our great state of texas. aTm, is indeed becoming a force to reckon with like never before. recruits, are suddenly gazing northwards as opposed to facing south for so very long. who really owns the "swag" within this state? no one really wants to answer this particular query, for fear of hearing the latest answer...

therefore, this is the premier reason, that i have come to appreciate the new momentum being brought upon the 40 acres as per coach strong vs steve patterson. these two gentlemen, are systematically making "longhorn nation" look within it's self, to erase the past profound "arrogance" that has become the norm amongst our most prestigious university. i now find myself wanting to become the best fan possible! and even a most trivial matter such as a "scoreboard" i only want to acquire the biggest and best... this shall never be in lieu, as per some past and yet profound arrogance of (because we can) but because i'm willing to work hard to help "place the "T" back in texas" simply because the "standards" are indeed changing.

There is a little furry animal called a lemming. Every four years or so, one of the critters decides to commit suicide by jumping off a cliff into the ocean and drowning himself. For whatever reason, several million fellow lemmings take the plunge too. I'm seriously hoping UT fans don't become like lemmings, feeling the need to react everytime the cow college tries to one up UT. That's juvenile.

The farm school does or does not put up the biggest scoreboard at their rejiggered stadium...I don't care. I'm not into knee jerk reactions, especially based on something a cult is planning on doing. UT needs to take care of its' own business, and there is plenty of business to be taken care of right now. A new basketball facility has to be built sooner, rather than later. New practice and training facilities for the football team are on the planning boards. Plans are picking up steam to complete the DKR project by filling in the south end zone. The men's and women's athletic departments are likely to be merged under the direction of Steve Patterson. UT is going to have to take a serious look at its' conference affiliation, and decide which conference might be a good new home if a move becomes apparent. A decision is going to have to be made on the basketball and baseball head coaching jobs before the end of the year. I'm sure I'm leaving something off of this list, but the gist of this whole post is that UT has a lot more on its' plate right now than to get into a pissing contest with agricultural over the size of the schools' respective football scoreboards.

If aggy's scoreboard is bigger, good on them, and I'm glad UT doesn't have to pay for their monstrosity.

Yeah, the capacity and scoreboard are clearly in response to our neighbors to the west. I'm OK with the capacity but feel the jumbotron is only a distraction in a true college football atmosphere.

It's my understanding that Patterson has plans to replace the Godzillatron with something smaller.

"monstrosity" are you kidding "coolhorn"? i did lay eyes upon their official rendering... and trust me, their new rendering "sketches" are indeed gorgeous. "coolhorn" i do indeed love you my pal... but let's not contradict ourselves. i mean, you are quick to state that "i'm not in to knee jerk reactions" and yet you are hereby addressing aTm as the "farm school"... something other's have done many times beforehand. well, the thing that really get's me with these knee jerk reaction titles, is that there are many new prospective football recruits that are indeed taking a second look at this "farm school" and are now committing.

i for one, would have to compliment you as per your statement regarding "ut" having to take care of a lot of new business. you are absolutely right! but the problem here as far as i see it... is that atm, is suddenly going down the same exact course of "taking care of business". i mean just think about it.... a 450$ million dollar new state of the art football stadium... far surpasses our new prospective basketball arena. at last count, the prospective seating capacity as per this new basketball arena was at "12 thousand seats"... that is a mighty small basketball arena for a school with over (51 thousand) students right? Trust me coolhorn, prospective recruits both (football vs basketball) are now really looking at these sorts of accoutrements, and are hereby making their commitments accordingly..

therefore, this is the very reason that i started this particular "thread". trust me when i say that i am acutely aware that the university of texas has many prior priorities in place. most, if not all universities do. but we must never ever allow ourselves to become complacent in lieu as per the new upsurge of other universities within the "big VII" and so forth... for this is simply due to the race for recruits. should you not believe me... just check out who has just won the recruitment battle within the state of texas.... surprise, the old "farm school".

ok "agmaniacmike"... enough with always seeming to try to be humble, just because you patronize one of the best "texas" member boards. i for one, am without a doubt, one of the most diehard longhorn fans upon this earth... and please trust me, i could very easily prove this fact! one of my sister's graduated with "honors" as per aTm... and just out of respect for her... i try to keep just an "ounce" of softness within my heart as per college station, tx. (but just an ounce ok)

however, i see nothing wrong with the new upsurge of activity that is now being highlighted as per aTm. in fact, i cherish it. simply because, although i truly love the "texas longhorns".... i consider myself a "texan" first. and if all of our university's have the capacity to hereby better themselves in lieu of their respective student populations... then so be it.

so stop with the "humility" act! it is ok to love your university. and it is certainly ok for you to be proud as per their overall achievements within our great state of texas. the "jumbotron" if used correctly is not a "distraction" within a true college atmosphere. in fact, the sheer presence of such an accoutrement, can only enhance the game day experience, as well as encourage fans to want to spend the ever increasing cost of attending today's gridiron matches.

Careful AgMike...you're liable to give ags a good name around here...

I'm a big believer in percentages. The biggest percentage of time since way before I came on this earth, UT has been the dominant school athletically in Texas, and agricultural has been mediocre to worse. I'm old enough to have seen those roles reversed a couple of times for a few years, but generally, both schools will always revert to their mean standings. They will this time too, with the difference that the two don't even play each other and aren't in the same conference any longer. I see no reason for the University of Texas to react to anything that's going on in collie station, beyond what's being done right now, rebuilding the fortunes of the UT football team.

I think it's best for all concerned that we take care of our business, and let the cult take care of theirs. I also think it's best for all concerned if each fanbase's obsession with the other goes away. I frankly don't get why anyone really wants to talk about what aggy is doing on this board. They're a memory now, and doing their own thing in the SEC. Just let it drop.

when done well, jumbotrons can be great.

sadly ADs typically see them only as revenue generators and use them not to enhance the overall game experience, but rather to support/promote athletic department sponsors.

It doesn't matter how big the Aggy stadium or scoreboard is, at the end of the day it will still be located in College Station.

Nicely said, sums up my thoughts as well.

In the last 16 seasons, TEXAS has a BCS title, SEVEN top 10 finishes, a Heisman trophy winner, is 9-5 in bowl games, is 3-1 in BCS bowls since Jan 2005 and most importantly .....

TEXAS beat A&M AT KYLE FIELD in 2011 27-25 in last game of the series.

TEXAS was 10-4 v A&M in the last 14 years of the series.

TEXAS was 76-37-5 all-time v A&M.

Oh yeah, I forgot, history no longer matters as per aggy.

The Godzillatron is the biggest single reason for the lack of crowd energy and loss of home field advantage at DKR. Fans attend college games for the emotion, pagentry and tradition, and the Godzillatron sucks attention and crowd energy away from the game in order to sell commercial advertising. You can't maintain crowd energy at DKR when the game experience is interrupted by a blasting ad or announcement on the giant screen.

We need to sell-off the Godzillatron to some poorer school that needs the commercial revenues. Put in 4 smaller screens in each quadrant of the stadium, and use them to see replay better. Allow only video commercials, but no audio ads at all. Put in a great sound system throughout the stadium, mike-up the Longhorn Band, and play either the LHB's music or stadium rock during timeouts and quarter changes to keep crowd energy up. Limit all announcements to pre-game and half-time.

Screw the ags the best thing to do is to not see them. We need to focus on what we're doing. The ags will implode, it's what they do.

Monarch- I'm not sure why you choose the writing style you do but it doesn't help you get your point across, at least not to me.

they need to make the sitting area on them hard benches wider and bigger.

Yeah, the capacity and scoreboard are clearly in response to our neighbors to the west......

Also, they way you made the state outline in the middle of your basketball court just a little larger was pretty hilarious.

The quality and product/stadium effectiveness is more important than size and pride. Aggy is way behind on boasting an obsolete tech record. After Jerrah Jones slapped his trunk on the table, no one really cares anymore...except aggy. Go figure.

Always thought that was ridiculously large on their court as well. State of Texas logo envy. Aggie always reacts to try and one up UT, and then make grandiose statements about the size/capacity of their new stuff to compare to UT. I don't think, correct me if I am wrong, that I have ever seen UT respond to Aggie goins on to try and outdo their ventures. Little bro syndrome continues from the southeast.

Agree.

Ours is humongous.

Yet aggy has to make his even bigger.

For no other reason than that.

At some point, they actually got together and asked, "How big is Texas'?"

And it went from there.

Which, to me, is very funny.

They are a never ending source of amusement.
