Warning this is a mindless ramble
I have been a fan of the Longhorns and football in general for as long as I can remember. I remember enjoying getting the cheap $5 enzone tickets and despite the lack of success enjoying every moment of being at a game. I grew up a Longhorn fan when it was not "cool" to be one. Honestly I could not tell you what initially turned me into a fan. Neither of my parents even went to college and my dad generally watched the pro game more back then. Although I still remember him telling aggie jokes and absolutely hating on them. So maybe that was it.
Ever since I was a little kid, I watched everything I could when it involved the Longhorns. Through much of the 80's, up through the current Longhorns. Heck I even converted my wife who was born and raised an aggie so much she ended up going to UT. Her dad to this day has never forgiven me!!
Anyway fast forward to this past year. I have had just about everything bad go wrong that one could have. I have lost close family members and a very close friend that was like a big brother to me to suicide. I have had health issues due to life long mis-aligned joints (which I am having major surgery tomorrow for). It has been a rough 2014, to say the least.
Ok, enough with the self pity crap.
The reason I bring that all up, is that depite all of that, I have that burning desire for this football season to start. Even though I know that there is a very good potential for a rough season, it is an exciting. It is exciting to see the new culture that CS and staff brings in. It is exciting to see if some of our young studs can become stars. It is exciting to see some of our older players who have been doing great, become greater. It is exciting because we have no clue what is going to happen. Unfortunately with Mack we kind of knew what we were going to get the last few years.
Now, I am sorry that I have dropped off the radar for most of this year. I have been working when I can behind the scenes to help Aaron and crew with the site, but I have been absent in the discussions. Hopefully that will change.
I am going to be laid up for the better part of 2 months recovering from my surgery so I expect to be back here more.
Anyway sorry for the ramble, I am just excited for the new season to start!
