Without going overboard, I recall the period when Texas was going to replace Coach Strong. You reported some information which begged an additional question or two. I didn't expect you to answer, at least not right away. I knew everyone was attempting to out scoop one another at the time but you answered my questions in this public forum. I came away thinking - this guy is not just a reporter, he actually wants to inform those that read his work. So just this once I will use this term without sarcasm, you have conducted yourself as a Journalist.

The idea for this website started in a bar in Savannah, Georgia in 2010. It's been a labor of love, and It's been a journey of sorts for me. Mike has been an incredible asset to the development of the site and he has been a driving force behind taking it to a new level.

For the average fan, reading information on sites/ boards is easy. For those that work for sites, building and cultivating relationships with sources is not easy - it's a time consuming process that takes a lot of trust and goodwill in the form of following through with deeds and actions. Mike is the epitome of that kind of person and he has helped the site legitimize its place in the market.

Nothing but love and good hopes/ wishes for you my friend. I'll always have your back.

Recruiting reporter Mike Roach will join the Horns247 staff effective immediately

Horns247 is adding a new member to one of the largest and fastest growing Texas outlets in the market.

Mike Roach will join the Horns247 staff as a recruiting reporter after a successful four-year stint at HornSports, a USA Today property.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to expand my writing career with 247Sports and incredibly excited to work with such a talented staff,†Roach said.

While at HornsSports, Roach served as a senior recruiting analyst and was on top of a number of developing stories with Texas targets. Roach spent this past season on the road covering the Longhorns football team as the Charlie Strong era came to an end.

Roach was also a co-host of the 4th and 5 podcast and is an active member of the Football Writers Association of America.
