He commented in a thread(which is rare but very welcome) that nothing has been decided and the process isn't that far along fwiw.

For those that don't know he is a long time insider that rarely posts but when he does you pay very close attention.

Probably right. How far along can we really be with coaches preparing for bowl games?

I expect the days after saban's game the talks will ramp up. If that doesnt happen the days after fishers game movement will be in overdrive.

If your description of far along being ink to paper then yes, I'd agree. Further to that I think it's wise to follow where the insider connection is with certain posters. We can safely assume anything coming from the Bellmont/UT/Administration and BMD/BOR side of things will be completely snuffed out (see Chip's Saban thread on OB). I think our guys here along with JS have their finger on what's really happening and it's probably coming from the agent/Bama side.

I will bet a sack full of beeehinds and I only have one to pay with if I lose that the decision is made and serious negotiations have begun.

We cannot prove that, but at some point, word will come out.

JMO.

Actually, that is a safe bet. No one wants my beeeehind.

Pat Healey is a good man.
Info is tight but, we are still feeling very good.

Agree with McPhaul about Pat. However, things are further along than Pat is letting on.

Stop and think how the process would reasonably work out. By Jan 15th coaches wll be back in full recruiting mode. If a decision isn't made by then, it gets tougher by the day, we can expect something to be decided within two weeks.

You form a committee, set basic attributes for candidates, call a conference callan come up with a list of potential hires, discuss the list to come up with a master list, prioritize that list, contact the top two and send feelers out to the next two. All that takes three days.

The process is either well under way or we have the wrong committee.

The committee doesn't have anything to do with it. By this time, Patterson should have a pretty good idea who the candidates are and have begun general discussions with agents on what is going to be required for each candidate...IMHO.

I tend to think Pat Healy is accurate in his statement, but rather vague as well. The OP talks about the new HC already being decided upon and that we are simply waiting until after the bowl games. I have know earthly idea, but I imagine nothing has been finalized as of yet. Since nothing is set in stone as of right now, it's easy to state that no decision has been made and that we are not that far along. I would not take his statement as any sort of bad sign. Maybe it's just me, but I see it as somewhat cryptic.

Patterson isn't going to form a committee of influential people and then tell them to stay out of the process. These were the people who approved his hiring. What would bringing them together then shoving them aside accomplish other then to make them feel Patterson had methodically just given them the finger?

Patterson IS the committee. The 'committee' is probably more of a 'sounding board' and exists more for our benefit than anything else.

Perhaps they are more likely to rubber stamp what he wants. These are the people who hired him to take care of things like this....

I think the biggest thing the committee has done is buy some time. Takes away some of the pressure by saying "hey, we created a committee thats going to take time and thoroughly check out the coaching possibilities, therefore dont expect anything soon".
