Thanks! I don't know gun terminology. Revolver, magnum, etc...I don’t know what those words mean. First thing I will do is take a hand gun class. Then test out different models. If I like it, I'll get a Texas Driver's License, gun permit, and then buy a gun. Here is a nice little revolver - made by Charter Arms, an American company. It is a little pistol that actually shoots 9 mm, which is hard to find in a revolver configuration.
I think you can buy this gun cheaper than the clip indicates - you just have to look around a little.

By-the-way, stay away from any handgun that is called a magnum - unless it is a .22 magnum. Magnums are loud with heavy recoil and not fun to shoot. And the ammo prices are outrageous.
LOL....perhaps I should take boxing classes.Lots of good advice above but when I first saw your post, I reflected on this
" Yes, very much so. I hate when my favorite teams lose to rivals. I haven't watched any tv or listened to any sports radio for the past 2 weeks. Makes me so sad and mad. I know, I'm a bad sport."![]()
LOL. This made me laugh so hard. I was thinking more James Bond style.
When I bought my wife her M&P Shield 9MM we went in the store to buy the Glock 26. It just didn't feel as good in her hand as the M&P which is much narrower. Fortunately for us the guy at Red's didn't just hand me the box when I told him we wanted a 26. He started asking my wife ?'s and showed us several very nice handguns. He then took the M&P out and said I saved this for last. For her it was a home run. If I were buying a compact for me I would likely get the sig or glock. But for a womans hands you can't beat the M&P. And I'm not too worried about it's ability to fire when the time comes either. Very well built firearm.I would go with a 9MM for the stoping power. I would also recommend the Glock G26. It is a subcompact and you can carry it any where. They also have very good purse holders. The reason I recommend the Glock is because it doesn't miss fire, shoots very true and is basically indestructible. The gun will take a beating and a ton of abuse, but will keep firing, unlike many other more expensive pistols.
Agree with that 100%. If you aren't prepared to end someones life. Don't buy a gun. If you pull it you better plan on using it.SF, soon to be AustinGirl, I have had a S&W 38 for years. It has plenty of stopping power with hollow points. Thats the ammo that opens up when it hits a target. The important point, of course, is to hit the target.
Other guns were heavier and more awkward than I wanted to deal with if I needed it quickly.
The best advice that I ever received regarding a gun and self-defense came from my Dad. He told me to never pull a gun, if I didn't intend to use it. So if you plan to carry it for self-defense, make certain that you are willing to use it. You don't want to be the victim of your own weapon.
Good luck.
