Enjoying the snowboarders and their joy to be at the Olympics. They all seem happy to compete, win or lose, and are congratulatory to their competitors. It's a refreshing difference to the pouting and crying in some of the other Olympic events. I originally was not in favor of the x-games invasion to the Olympics, but these folks emulate what the games should be all about.

Yeah they love what they are doing and are showing good sportsmanship. Then you have stuff like this...

There have been allegations that the skating is fixed ... again.

L’Equipe, the French sporting daily, said Saturday that according to an unnamed Russian coach, a “proposed barter’’ would have the US support Russian skaters in the new team event that concludes Sunday night in exchange for the Russians aiding ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White in their quest to become the first US Olympic champions in the event.

The allegations were denied. Then, the next day, the Russians won the team gold. Go figure.

And it is not like it hasn't happened before http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/winter02/figure/news?id=1333280

I have never been much of a fan of sports that rely upon subjective judging, which is large chunk of the winter sports.

Same. I can watch the events but I often find myself disagreeing with the judges opinions. Then I lose pretty much all enjoyment.

I've really enjoyed watching the snowboarding, but the judging has actually been pretty brutal there too. I think in that case it's more incompetence than corruption though.

I've got a friend who has competed in and judged international figure skating competitions. Her thoughts: "If I'd known how political judging was when I was 6 years old, I never would have invested 5 minutes in this sport". And despite it being a huge part of her identity, none of her kids have.

No more judged sports!!!!!!!!!!

I mean that's terribly sad when you think about it. Somebody who clearly has an amazing amount of passion for something, wishing they'd never gotten involved. That shows you the horrible situation in which Figure Skating has found itself. While I'm not a Figure Skating enthusiast by any definition of the word, I do like seeing what some of those athletes can pull off. And make no mistake, those people are athletes. It's unfortunate.

MikeV73 my friend I know what you are saying about the Olympics games. In getting to compete at that level if you win accept your gold if you lose you should get up and happily shake off defeat. But I guess what makes the Olympics different is in most cases you get one shot to get that gold. Failure is not an option something Americans take lightly. Hell I only played high school football and I didn't like to lose a game. My friends y'all have a great week

The US is beginning to catch up in the total medal count, if not the gold medals.

Last column is total medals

1 Germany 6 1 1 8

2 Canada 4 4 2 10

3 Norway 4 3 6 13

4 United States 4 2 6 12

5 Netherlands 4 2 4 10

6 Switzerland 3 0 1 4

7 Russia 2 4 3 9

Plus hockey has started - the Olympic tourney sort of works out like the World Cup of hockey.

At this point, I just don't think we'll finish with the most Golds. We'll have to win the Medal Count for this to have been a satisfying Olympic event.

I do so wanna win hockey gold.

Need to beat Russia with Putin in the house! Putin attendance not verified at the time of this posting...he will need time to put his shirt back on after his creepy habit of shirtless photo ops. He thinks he is an action hero, but is no Ivan drago
