The fact he's even commenting on athletics while A&M turns into a diploma mill is the hilarious part.

I don't think I've even seen McRaven comment on athletics. Probably because he's doing his job.
McRaven is charged with running an academic enterprise with an annual operating budget of over $16 billion. Sharp is responsible for an organization of less than one fourth that size. The two operate in two totally different worlds. Sharp can afford to be a buffoon. McRaven can't.

What an asinine statement for a high ranking university official to make. Truth be told it reflects poorly on himself and the university.
Most  reasonable aggies (and there really are some) are embarrassed by Sharp and want him gone.  They consider him a buffoon.

Interesting article. A couple thoughts.

1) LOL at aggys that think Sumlin is recruiting at the level of Mack (yes I've read several places where aggys believe this). In that 7 year spread Mack was pulling in 31.7 % blue chips. Sumlin has been pulling in 25.3 % in 3 years, and this doesn't even account for the crazy attrition in the '13 class. This isn't to say recruiting rankings are the end all be all, simply that Sumlin isn't recruiting nearly at the same level as Mack.

2) These numbers are always going to be distorted under Strong. Strong is going to take more out of state players in comparison with Mack.

3) I completely agree with the last paragraph. I think the biggest loser in A&M's "recruiting gains" is OU. I will say that I think OU's lack of success more than anything was the reason OU took a step back in recruiting, rather than Sumlin being some type of recruiting god. The more I look at it Sumlin is a vastly overrated recruiter. He hasn't even been pulling in big #s in terms of blue chippers with OU and Texas significantly down for a few years.

Many years ago when Sharp was in the Senate, I was at a ranch retreat with him, the Lt. Gov and a bunch of other Senators and guests. My memory of Sharp was that he was too drunk to stay on his horse. LOL

The most hilarious thing about aggys is ever since they hired Chavis they continually talk about being an "attacking defense". It's like they've never seen Chavis as a defensive coordinator. What if I told you in the past 3 years A&M had more sacks than LSU?

Chavis's 3-2-6 Mustang defense is built on only bringing 3 defensive lineman/pass rushers. Chavis was more successful at stopping spread teams like A&M as compared to teams like Bama that lined up and ran it down your throat.

They don't even realize that Chavis is more passive up front in terms of pressure than a guy like Snyder. This is also why having elite DBs is critical in Chavis' Mustang defense, it's reliant on DBs.

IMO, it's an OU downturn + SEC myth. Hey, I'd like to see aggie win many recruiting battles with OU. I'm sure one of the first things Sumlin talks about is "the number of SEC players in the NFL".

CFS will still win his share. Now we gotta coach 'em up. \m/

I was driving home from work the other day (I live in the Austin area) and in front of me was this truck driven by an aggy parent. There were aggy this & aggy that stickers on the back window but what was smack in the middle of it all? The $ec sticker. Funny, in all the years before they left I never once saw aggy with SWC or XII stickers on their vehicles.

I wonder if our friend aggyMike has a bunch of $ec stickers all over his cars/trucks?

Were they wearing the Miss St/Aggie hybrid jersey as seen at Walmart? Serious SEC fans own that beauty.
