The branch in Qatar has been around for a couple of years. It was first offered to The University of Texas, but it was rejected because it was thought giving diplomas that said "The University of Texas at Austin" to people who never set foot on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin, never studied under any of the professors at The University of Texas at Austin and never accessed any of the facilities of The University of Texas at Austin would cheapen the value of a degree imprinted with the name The University of Texas at Austin. 

Either you did or you didn't attend The University of Texas at Austin. I agree the diploma should be reserved for those who studied at The University of Texas at Austin. aggy felt differently.

The players trained at Lake Bryan, just a few miles from Texas A&M’s campus. The training may have been conducted by cadets from A&M’s Corps of Cadets, who would have a very solid understanding of what it takes to execute teamwork.

Looks more to me like these aggie footballers are being baptized by the Church of Aggie. "SEAL training by the Corps"? Are you f'n kidding me? How do you even make that comparison? These clowns have no shame.

Here's a fun fact to share with aggies. TCU graduates a higher percentage of its students to be military officers than A&M does. In 2012, TCU graduated 45 military officers and A&M graduated 154. TCU has about 8,000 undergrads and A&M has 47,000. That's 0.56% of TCU's student population and 0.32% of A&M's student population. So, your average TCU student has about twice as good a chance of sitting next to a future military officer in class than the average aggie. You don't see the Frog ROTC marching around like a bunch of idiots and playing soldier on campus 24/7 though.

In 1963 the Texas state legislature officially renamed the school to Texas A&M University, with the "A" and "M" being a symbolic link to the school's past but no longer officially standing for "Agricultural and Mechanical".

1. What does "A&M" stand for?
When the institution gained university status in 1963, the "A&M" representation (no periods, no spaces and with an ampersand) was incorporated into the official name in deference to the institution's history and rich traditions, but the individual letters no longer explicitly stand for anything.

So, ladies and gentlemen, it can truly be said that a&m stands for nothing.
