Non-SEC Football

Dude,

You didn't make any sense on your statements in the portal tread, and now even less. Our profit would be awesome with no conference sharing unbelievable. You are incredibly dumb or just stupid. Every answer would be yes, and their is no deal advantage of a fake conferecne like the SEC. Only 5 teams would hate to play us. Gaggy, misery, Colorado. Everyone else would have no problem.
David,

Your insight on baseball and particular, Texas baseball, is informative and appreciated. Your personal attacks on different posters are not appreciated. Difference in opinions and personal attacks are different. One is being respectful of the poster regardless if one agrees with that person; whereas, he other is rude and disrespectful. This is a great board for sharing opinions and appreciation of the University of Texas Athletics. Let's continue to keep it that way with respect and appreciation of others.

It's fine to disagree, but resorting to name calling is childish, and against the spirit of this forum. Grow up dude.

I wasn't even trying to answer the questions I was asking. Only suggesting that if the answers to those questions is yes, then going independent would be fine with me.

The reality is that the answers to those questions are difficult to predict. I don't think anyone can really know the answers, hence IMHO becoming independent would be a huge risk.

My general rule is post as if you are talking to the person face-to-face. If what/how you a saying would get you smacked in the face, maybe change your tone

If we were independent and there were still conferences, we would have problems scheduling top teams. We could get teams looking for a paycheck but not top teams. The top teams wouldn’t want a loss to us that kept them out of the playoff and helped us get in.

Notre Dame is being threatened by the b10 and SEC with being frozen out of regular season scheduling because of their independent status. And while we may have name recognition, Notre Dame does too. I don’t want to be playing Stanford, Navy, etc. Hoping to go 12-0 so we are in the top 16. Because the SEC and b10 would be lobbying for their teams and the SEC would then be lobbying against us.

Sometimes people are neither dumb nor stupid. Instead, they're just wrong. We're all capable of being wrong.

Many times a difference of opinion is simply a paradigm. There was a poster on here who appeared to be well educated and intelligent. He posted insightful information. Yet, there was a definite paradigm when it came to NIL. He believed contracts would resolve the NIL mess. He truly believed that. I respect his opinion. Meanwhile, I (and others)...

Well..

Montana LB Tuliaupupu granted 9th year of eligibility by NCAA. He will be probably filing for Social Security soon. 🙄

9th Year

I know. However, in this case, I think it's okay. He hasn't played hardly at all due to injuries and other things.

Here is an example of respectfully disagreeing. 😁 No name calling. No personal attacks.

I'm in the camp of college athletics - 4 years of playing within a 5 year period.

We agree to disagree, still cordial and love our Longhorns.

Ahem. That's a hint for a person who may need to see how that works. 😉

I don't really care mich either way about this case, but it makes me think. I graduated over 40 years ago, never played any college sports. Could I theoretically petition the NCAA to become eligible to play football?

Good question. Who knows? 🤔 Their rulings are all over the place. Makes one wonder if NCAA uses a dart board 🎯 for decision making.
