Night Sweats

I've had this issue for a few years now. During the middle of the night, I would sweat so much my shirt's entirely soaked. Moreover, my sheets and pillow too. Then I wake up freezing.

What's wrong with me? AC is fine. In SF, always cold so no AC needed.

Does anyone have this issue too?

You would think someone as old as I am could offer some advice, but I got nothing.

I only have those kind of issues when I am sick.

Hope you find out what's going on.

I have always been a sweater, even while awake.  In high school, I was in the 180's at 5'-11 3/4", but I would loose 14-16 pounds from sweat in a football game. We had white practice uniforms and after a normal practice, I would look like I had played a game in the swamps.  My pads would not dry our until after the end of the season.  The night sweats have to do with brain activity during REM sleep.  More brain activity, more sweat - you must be pretty smart with all of that brain activity at night.  ;)   Alcohol makes it worse, so quit being such a sot!  ;)   Seriously, though, as you get older, it gets better.  My wife has made it clear to me that you just need to find yourself a good partner that does not mind being your salty dog!  ;)

I was looking for this ...

JUST KIDDING!!!  I"m KIDDING.....OK?! :P

Maybe you should have a checkup with a blood panel, just to make certain everything is in balance. I bet one of the docs could give you advice. That would be miserable.

On a serious note, it may be as simple as your body acclimating to life in the Texas heat after living in San Fran for so long.

I have the same problem, albeit not as severe.  I find that it happens when I eat carbs and/or drink alcohol after 8PM or so.  Just burning up that sugar.  When I cut out the carbs completely for dinner, I actually get cold in the middle of the night.

Very interesting! But I eat very few carbs and rarely drink, maybe twice a month. I'm weird.

Have you thought maybe you're just going to have to live with being hotter than fish grease?

Good lord, joewa!  What the hell is the matter with you?  You knew better - at least the text in your post indicates as much, but you went ahead and did that anyway.

Excessive sweating is a big problem for a lot of folks.  My wife and I have taken extensive dancing lessons over the years - ballroom, Cajun, and all varieties of Latin dancing.  I sweat so much that I had to take two changes of clothing every time we went out.  Bless my wife's heart, she never complained.  I am a pretty good dancer, so nobody ever said anything.  If they had, I might of been up for assault charges.

You should get this checked out by a doctor.  You are too young for menopause, but If you are taking any anti-depressants, this could be a side effect.  Read the labels.

There are other reasons as well - see a doctor.

Joeywa is a good man. I knew he was kidding. :)
Does not matter.  I have a philosophy about such things. Humor is all well and good.  I like humor, but if I would not say something to someone in person, I would prefer not to say it to someone on a forum.  If someone said  something like that to my wife at a party, I would not like it very much.  But I would not have to say much, because my wife would have plenty to say in her own behalf, and I must say that her wit is just a tad sharper than mine.

Just BC. I will get it checked out doc. I get annual physical and blood work done every March. Everything is great.

Also, as doc said, check out the information that come with any prescriptions that you take. I have migraine headaches, and many years ago a specialist tried me on a beta blocker to reduce the frequency. The bb helped, but didn't eliminate the headaches so the doc increased the dose. At the same time, I began a summer school course in upper level calculus. It started out great, no headaches, but suddenly, I couldn't remember things on exams, which was puzzling to say the least.

I started doing research, and found out that beta blockers can have effects on memory. Of course, I had to discontinue the medication. Oh well...
