*** National Signing Day 2014 Thread ****

Everyone that was expected to sign LOI's today have signed, including a nice surprise from Chris Nelson. Poona Ford announces in an hour.

Good news On Catalon, the most underrated and IMO maybe the best player in the class. If it wasn't for injuries his senior year he may have been a five star.

Glad to hear Braden Smith chose Auburn. Absolute beast did not want to face him at TCU.

I was hoping we would get a last minute flip but it does not look likely now. If we get Poona overall not a bad class. We're now on the clock for 2015.

My issues have zero to do with health... I just don't think he's good. There is nothing to support the contrary. Like is said, he's had FLASHES but he is not a top level qb by any means.
better get on the phone to Strong and Watson. they may think differently, but who the hell are they? internet experts rule!

now, back to signing day.

Would our total 2014 class count be at 22 with Ford signing? And how many transfers? 3-4 players?

This will be the class where we truly get to see Strong's vision for this Program. I expect us to be a bit shocked by the athletes he decides to target, as it might seem a little out of the norm for the Burnt Orange.

You mean the two guys that had zero to do with him being a QB at Texas?

If the Wittek rumors are true and we get Poona, Strong did a hell of job considering the circumstances.

Ash can be a very good qb.. He was thrown into the fire as a true freshman when he wasn't ready. He played as a true sophomore and had some nice games. The kid has a nice arm and can run very well. So tired of seeing people underestimate him. He will be a 4th year junior. As long as he is healthy, he will shine. As for this class, not great but not bad either. It is tough seeing the Aggies and Baylor take kids that we should be getting. However we finally have a true football coach and the strength program should be much better under a coach like him. He can develop players.

And if this Wittek talk comes to life I'd venture to bet they want a better option immediately at QB as well.

This is a Signing Day thread gentlemen, let's leave the QB arguments to another thread.

Really of no relevance, but the guy in the upper right of the pic (you can't see his face in this pic but one was posted earlier where you can) is Howard Logan. He's the father of Jacob Logan. For those unfamiliar Jacob, a standout at wr & safety for Coppell high, drowned in Sept. of '12. He was being recruited by Texas Tech (among others). The Logan's were the first family my family met when we moved to Coppell in '04 as they were our neighbors. Although not thrilled that Solomon chose Stanford, I do think it speaks highly of him to allow the father of his fallen teammate to stand with him as he chooses his college.
