Must Read The Deck is Being Shuffled

I just hope he stays at number 1. A fallback of Fisher at 2 was still exciting, a fallback to Strong, not so much.
This is my worry. Not to say Strong isn't a good coach, because I'm sure he'd do a good/great job here. It's more of a feeling of who cares if Saban is the #1 target if we end up with a meh hire after the fact. Note - this is in no way an indictment on McPhaul and company. Just talking out loud here.

I would hope our administration would be hiring the best candidate, regardless of questionable "issues" like this. I was pissed at him when he did it, but ultimately this is not something that should be considered when filling a vacancy this large besides a passing question/comment regarding it during the interview.
So Patterson is going to make a pick the fans dislike simply because he individually is ok with what Briles did and the fans can just go fu@k themselves.

If the fans dislike and distrust the coach from day one, the fact the AD feels differently is all that matters. Hmm...isn't that what we have just dealt with over the past four years? Fu@k the fans because the program belongs to the BMDs and the AD. I don't quite think so. Somehow, I think someone who allowed his petty hatred of Texas to block us from a national championship game isn't going to be welcomed openly by the faithful because he might bring us to a national championship game.

Darrell Royal played for OU against Texas and beat us, yet that was in fair competition. Same with Saban in the 2009 MNC game. What Briles did was chickensh!t. We don't need a coach whose hatred for UT will serve to further divide the fan base. Briles is a good coach but he couldn't beat us on the field so he resorted to chickensh!t methods to block us. We deserve better than a chickensh!t coach. We need a coach we can all support.

Agreed. Saban and strong aren't on the same hemisphere.

Like I said earlier I still keep hearing strong. Just don't think Mack and powers will be out of the way for saban
Saban or no saban neither are going to be in the way from what I've been reading from several. This is pattersons hire and not even powers is directing things. Will sign off on whoever Patterson and the committee hires. Powers is in no position power wise with some key players to block anything anymore

I think it was said that Fisher and Briles both said they would take the job if Saban didn't. So if Fisher has fallen off that leads me to believe that Saban is taking the job. Looking at it with the glass half full not empty. Lol

I don't really get the feeling that half the fanbase hates Briles based on one action. It was a bush league action, but I think Briles gives us a better chance at winning than Strong.

If you want someone who will constantly fellate the program, go get another Mack. I also doubt Briles will come here if he "hates" UT.

One interesting thought here is that CB did report that Strong was in consideration. So if this info is correct, it may not be completely breaking news (I love the confirmation here) - and we can take that into account on CB's other stories. Not to say that all are accurate. He definitely is saying that 1A is almost dead.

There's only so many candidates that are out there right now. Strong's name being thrown around be everyone isn't exactly surprising.

The good news is that Saban is not dead. The bad news, I do not want Strong. I rather have Briles.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into that coincidence. I was hearing Strong's name the Tuesday after BF. Just never heard it this high until now.

Briles' "one action" was blocking us from a national championship game. That's not something that is just brushed aside.

Art Briles is a chickensh!t individual who will never unify the fanbase. Where you got the impression anyone is saying the next coach must "constantly fellate the program" I don't know. Its not a binary choice, either someone who is chickensh!t or someone who will "constantly fellate the program." Lets pick neither and instead choose someone the fanbase can rally behind and support.

The thought of paying $5mil+ to a chickensh!t individual disgusts me. I hope Briles is eliminated from consideration quickly. Mack did a number of things that infuriated the fans, but he never pulled a stunt like Briles did to block a team he couldn't beat on the field from an opportunity they earned. Texas deserves better.

#1 - Briles could have voted us #1 and it wouldn't have sent us to the National Title game - the score wasn't that close.

#2 - Sirhornsalot - all I meant is that he heard that Strong was recently moving up the board, but yes I agree.

This is simply false. Briles could have put us at #1 and left Oklahoma and Flordia off his poll and we would not have made the gap from #3 to #2. I don't like that he did it, but I was much more upset that Mack didn't put us at #1 than Briles at #5.
