Looks like Texas didn't get a player drafted in the first 2 rounds, from what I've seen. I always hope our players get drafted high, but it's good news for us because it increases the likelihood of more players returning next year. I'm keeping a look out for where Peters and French are drafted.

This is also why I love baseball. The Big 12 had one player drafted in the first two rounds, yet it has 4 teams in the supers. Baseball is a team game and that's why I love it.

The first two rounds weren't a big risk for Texas, IMO. It's the next few days that are worth watching.

As they say, it only takes one team to fall in love with you. The next few days are interesting for lots of current players....maybe even moreso than the recruiting class where it seems more like a known quantity (re: who will/won't make it to the 40).

I could be dead wrong, but I'm still thinking French comes back. I could maybe see Marlow going pro. I do believe Peters is gone. Don't think Schiraldi is gone either. Who knows though, these type of decisions are tough. This is just my opinion but I think it would really be in the better interests long term for French/Schiraldi/Marlow to come back. With that said, I'm not in their shoes and it's hard to pass up a good bit of money.

John Curtiss - 170th (6th round) - Minnesota Twins

Mark Payton - 212th (7th round) - NY Yankess

Dillon Peters - 287th (10th round) - Miami Marlins

If the Twins offer him a commensurate bonus (at his draft slot), he'll sign. After his surgery, he should, IMO.

Yep, Curtiss is most likely gone. Didn't the broadcasters even say Curtiss had already finished his degree yesterday? Good news I bet we get back either Peters or French, and maybe both.

The Rangers picked Travis Jones in the 39th round (pick #1,176),

That's only 3 recruits/signees,

The draft finished last night. Final totals:

- 6 current team members (Curtiss, Payton, Peters, French, Thornhill & Schiraldi)

- 3 signees (Cantu, Schimpf, Jones)

Really good draft for the Horns in terms of the probability of getting signees to the 40, IMO.
