Maybe a 17th year?

Why do I get the feeling we haven't seen the last of Mack Brown? He just didn't have the appearance of a coach on his last lap Thanksgivng night, IMO. I just don't necessarily think Steve Patterson comes in and immediately drops the axe. The more I digest things, I get the indication Mack may just get a 17th year on the 40. Should that come to fruition, would Longhorn Nation go into total meltdown? I saw empty seats last night at DKR. Would ticket sales drop even more? I just don't know at this point. What say My HS brothers?

I also agree Patterson won't do it but I doubt he'll have to. I saw a very different Coach Brown than you. I saw a guy in total anguish over what was happening early on. He just didn't look like he was enjoying himself. But that changed. I think we can all agree Texas beat an overmatched team last night. Texas was more talented, physical and mentally prepared for the game. It was not a good barometer for the season.

Wait til next week.

A 51 yard fake punt for a touchdown is an example of one coach exposing another coach's weakness. We can beat teams like Tech because we have better athletes. We lose to a lot of teams because Mack gets consistently outcoached. If we don't care about being outcoached 3 or 4 games a year and going to second tier bowls, we keep Mack. If we want to seriously compete, we get a coach that knows how to coach today's game. Its not a tough decision.

Tech is unranked. Wait till UT plays a ranked team when they play Baylor. Then we will be reminded once again that Mack is "fixing" it. Glad he had a victory over Tech. Hope he is able to field a team that plays Baylor well. After whatever bowl game UT plays in, Mack needs to hang it up and UT needs to start a new winning tradition.

Patterson isn't going to have to drop the ax. I believe Mack already knows, and has been told his options. That was reported a week or two ago by IT. I have seen a totally different Mack over the last multiple games. He seems like someone who knows this is his last year, and he's taken it all in. Even in Press Conf's he has seemed different.

I just cant believe Mack will be back next year. Nothing in that makes any sense whatsoever at all

I can't see it either. He looks like a coach that isn't having much fun. The victories aren't celebrated as wins anymore rather he's relieved they didn't lose. When that time comes, it's time to quit coaching....

He has to retire,,,,all coaches have got jobs at other places and who would come coach for Mack??

I would not be surprised if Applewhite is not at Florida.

I can't see Mack returning either.

Muschamp really doesn't like his job if he makes Major the OC.

Major needs to go somewhere for >2 yrs where he can learn from a bright Offensive mind, like Briles or Malzhan or Morris.

I don't see how Muschamp could put his trust into an unknown like Major with his job on the line. Now he may not be able to hire anyone better because of the uncertainty of his status, but at the same time he could probably still get better than a guy who has struggled in his only year as an OC at a major program.

I agree. I don't think Major is ready for anything other than a positions coach. He's just terrible as an OC
