BLM is a movement. No one is running it. They have leaders sure but they don’t have monthly dues or monthly meetings. They said BLM is a farce. Sorry they didn’t clarify if they think the movement to get equality for African Americans  is a farce or the African Americans “running” it are a farce. Doesn’t matter though. Both would be offensive. So yeah there are African Americans who don’t trust them as an organization and do not think they have our best interest at heart. So if a player doesn’t want to play for a person who supports them, that’s that players right.
3 years ago, is she still there

Yes she still works there. Man you are trying to defend her with some reference to cops being massacred by a black man?? Wtf would they have to do with BLM? A church full of black people was massacred by a white man.. do those people’s family now have the right to respond by killing his family? Would that be ok? You’re not worth responding to. Good day sir.
Did BLM publicly mourn for the black police officers killed?

You sure get your panties in a wad whenever someone tries to have a discussion. It keeps being brought up that white cops have killed black men, so why can’t we bring up that a black man killed cops?  Double standards or what. I never defended her, I asked if she was still there cause that clip is 3 years old.

Depending on the shirt and what it means, yeah makes sense to me. I don’t care if I knew a person for 15 yrs, let me see you wearing some racists, homophobic, etc. We gonna have to talk and if it’s not addressed, we are done. I applaud his stance. If something someone’s wearing offends you, use what power you have to address it.
Chuba is a coward for not going to Gundy man-to-man to talk about this before taking it to twitter.

Haha I could care less about a person I’ve never met to get my panties in a wad. There’s no double standard. Sure a black person can kill a cop, just like a white person can. But it had nothing to do with a person at OAN calling BLM a farce. And you didn’t just ask if she was still there, you asked and then asked if it was when a black person massacred cops. That doesn’t matter when talking about BLM. So bring it up kinda seems like you’re saying she had a reason to say what she said. Why put that in there if you aren’t trying to link the two??  Again I have no problem discussing things. I feel it’s needed at this time. But if I feel someone isn’t really listening or they are just gonna blow off issues with a what about this response.. yeah I don’t need to waste my time conversing with that person. That’s all.

People can associate with whomever the choose. But people also have the right to say who they will not associate with & what they will not tolerate. Al Sharpton has said anti-Semitic things.. that’s your go to?? The POTUS has said anti-Semitic things. He has said racist things. So yeah people kinda say things and get to live their lives. It sucks. I know. You’re not gonna see me defend Al Sharpton or his words. That has nothing to do with a football player saying he will not be participating if the man he is suppose to follow is supporting something he feels is against his community & his beliefs.
  • "People can associate with whomever the choose."
  • "That has nothing to do with a football player saying he will not be participating if the man he is suppose to follow is supporting something he feels is against his community & his beliefs."

@HornsUp Those are completely opposite statements, so I'm trying to get you to understand that.

If one can associate with whomever they choose then they shouldn't be judged for it by someone else. That's the really serious problem with your statement as it pertains to individual beliefs.

My point on Sharpton is that if you personally have ever... at ANY time in your life... been supportive of anything that Sharpton has ever done, then you are giving me the right to label you as anti-Semitic. Is that what you want? Do you want everyone to go back over all your tweets, everything you've ever said in your life to find that one connective tissue between you and Sharpton, which could then be used to label you a racist?

Do you want to be labelled as anti-Semitic just because you watch MSNBC?

I would imagine the answer to that is 'no', but this is exactly what you are doing to Gundy right now.

You've already acknowledge that OAN itself is not racist network... it's not a false front for some outfit run by David Duke or some other white supremacist organization. There are apparently people on the network who have criticized BLM in the past. Political disagreements are not racist thought.

Again, I ask you to reconsider and allow for the fact that people can have differing opinions but still play football together.

Here’s a little different perspective

That’s cool. Everyone is entitled to their opinion or “perspective”. But I mean I’m black as well. I could record something and upload it as my “perspective”. She doesn’t represent me or my views. Or the views of the players or the majority of African Americans who disagree with her.

Well that’s not how it was intended. She mentioned the police being shot and I looked at the time stamp and saw it was 3 years ago and was trying to figure out if that was her agenda. That she was trying to tie the two together. I would like to make sure you totally understand my point of view, I completely agree with and support every person of color, not just the athletes,  remove the statues and change the names of buildings. I don’t want The Eyes removed and UT should never give money to a political organization including BLM.

Those are not different. You can choose who you want to associate with. So Chubba decided he doesn’t want to associate with Gundy. How is that different?? Are you saying it’s different because Gundy doesn’t get to choose??

I would have no problem people going over my tweets. 1) I don’t really tweet much. 2) I’ve never retweeted Al Sharpton nor do I follow him. So you wouldn’t be able to call me that. The issue is, he’s a grown man. He wore a shirt. You are a public figure. He either didn’t research OAN before wearing it, which we know isn’t true. Or he wore the shirt knowing who they are & didn’t care. So if he’s gonna publicly support them, his players have a right to publicly announce he they won’t support him. Also I don’t watch MSNBC. Thanks though.

OAN is a far right crappy network. They push falsehoods that are dangerous for people like me. They aren’t spewing racism on air but they aren’t presenting helping minorities in anyway with their “news”. So if a player thinks they don’t want to play for someone who’s supporting them. That’s their right.

Ok well if you’re telling me that’s your stance. All I can do is take you at your word. Yes every statue should be removed & building names changed. The Eyes. That’s a difficult one & one I think will be compromised on. As far as money, I think if they aren’t going to give to BLM, they may need to look into more funding for minority organizations on campus. There has to be some show of support outside of removing statues & names that should have been due decades ago.

I agree. I think BLM is a political group and UT shouldn’t give money to any political group. I would look you in the eye and tell you if I had been in Austin I would have marched alongside and knelt with them. I try my best to not see color but only judge people on their actions and then their words.

Yeah I posted the video on another thread. This isn’t over for Gundy. He didn’t apologize. Chubba may have taken one and apologized for posting it on twitter. But 1) he didn’t say he was wrong for criticizing the shirt. 2) he may have been the first to comment but others said they were behind him. I don’t think he can then tell them that everything is cool when Gundy didn’t apologize. Gundy knew he had to jump in front of this quick. Sometimes going to fast makes you miss your mark. He missed it. It probably won’t be the last he hears of this & he has to know his non-apology will be used against him down the road.

So you're saying you have never... for one minute... watched MSNBC... ever? The same network where Sharpton has a regular show. If so, then you are a R-A...

Look, obviously my point here is a little role reversal to try and get you to put yourself into Gundy's shoes.

Everyone has watched a little MSNBC. And just because they have, or even if they wear an MSNBC shirt, it does not mean they are anti-Semitic just because Sharpton is on the same network.

Likewise because Gundy wears this shirt, and some on the OAN network have expressed opinions criticizing BLM,  people don't have the right to assume that Gundy likewise believes the same thing. That is guilt by association. It is wrong... not subjectively wrong... empirically wrong.

Chubba can think anything he wants. However he doesn't have the right to make a public, inflammatory accusation without taking a moment to talk to the person he's accusing or get a little backstory. Both are public figures, and both can cause a lot of real damage and irreparable harm to the organization they represent, their teammates, and a much larger audience that watch them.

This isn't social justice... this is social madness.

Have watched MSNBC before, yes I have. But me watching MSNBC 5 years ago doesn’t really matter. You’re attempt to put me in Gundy shoes are flawed by me saying go through my tweets and I don’t follow or condone Sharpton’s statement. The thing is, this isn’t just oh Gundy wore a shirt. He has actually talked about liking OAN. So he has put it out there he likes them. Well if you say you like something & then they say something that may be offensive about a movement that your players support. You then wear the shirt during a time like this.. he’s a man, he’s over 40. He could use that brain and say maybe I shouldn’t be wearing a shirt like this right now because it could be misconstrued. Or he can wear it and deal with players not wanting to be associated with it. Chubba has every right to post his tweet. Gundy didn’t speak with his players before talking about liking OAN or wearing the shirt. Otherwise they would have known where he stood & it wouldn’t have been an issue. Chubba never accused Gundy of anything. Chubba doesn’t seem to be doing damage to his teammates since they supported him, including past players. So I guess it’s really Gundy doing the damage. This isn’t social madness. This is a change that some people won’t like. Players are realizing they have power. They are used to make universities millions & coaches millions. So they are the talent & the talent is now letting it be known they will not just sit back anymore. It’s more than football. I’m excited for this. Sorry if you aren’t.

Look, Chubba has since apologized, and in that apology he essentially admitted everything I and others complained about. It's hard to know if these apologies are ever sincere, but it does sound like he wrote it himself.

He understands what I've been trying to explain... they aren't powerless and haven't been for a long time. They're some of the most talented people in the country playing in one of the most influential organizations on the planet. Gundy most likely explained this to him which broke the spell of this social madness going on right now. If they destroy each other, neither can accomplish any of their goals... professional or cultural.

Chubba got caught up in this frenzy, and in that frenzy broke every rule that's ever been created about keeping it in the clubhouse. He also threw an insult at the one guy outside of his family that would be his strongest public defender.

As I've mentioned before the NFL players could've affected change a long time ago as well. Let's just assume at first it was only black NFL players who spent their offseason in different cities organizing marches, and signing people up, etc. Before you start assuming it was only 'the system' that kept them down, just go ask them all why no one stepped up to that challenge. Kneeling for a few mns prior to a game doesn't count. I'm talking about the hard work it takes to make an actual movement happen.

So to assume someone like me isn't excited about positive change is an unfortunate assumption. I just don't think we have to destroy ourselves and burn everything down in the process.

If you think that apology looked sincere, I don’t know what to tell you. Go look at his body language. Hands folded, stone cold look. Gundy finished and point to him as to say read the script. I do not think he wrote that himself and I again doubt this is over for Gundy because he never apologized. Are you serious?? You really think Gundy broke some spell?? You do realize he didn’t apologize for what he said?? He meant that. He said he should have went to Gundy. Hahaha you think Gundy sold him on we need each other to get things done? 1) Chubba will be drafted no matter what. Gundy ran to the camera because he realized that he cannot keep his job without the talents of African American players. 2) Gundy supports OAN. Chubba obviously knows what they stand for or what he believes they stand for. So you think he is going to believe the man who supports them will be on his side for the change needed? Wow. The one guy outside his family who would be his biggest public defender?? Is that fact?? I mean I don’t know that & neither do you. Man you are really needing to stop talking. NFL players could have affected change?? Every time I’ve seen players step up, they were told to stick to sports. Funny now it’s well you should have seen speaking up sooner. And the nerve of you to talk like you know what these players are doing in their communities. And to try to talk like Kaepernick only kneeled when he as doing so much more in communities years ago, it shows you have you don’t know what you are talking about.

Sorry I gotta say based off previous posts and the ridiculous hot garbage you just posted, especially about what black players could have done... I don’t think you care a bit about what’s going on. Sure you may say it online or when talking to someone. But I will keep my assumption. You are talking about spells and frenzies like these players are too dumb or naive to make rationale decisions with everything going on. And who’s burning everything down? People are just putting people on notice that the status quo isn’t gonna fly anymore. If you want to go into the homes of black families and speak to them to get those young men to come play for you so that you can make millions, those young men have a right to know what you stand for & if it’s something they want to be associated with. It’s that simple. Sometime shows you who they are, believe the first time.
