Mack's Retirement Date?

We are going to have to dredge a through a lot of crap for awhile. It will feel like an eternity.
I have a feeling that all the Saban talk is exactly that . nothing has happened besides the initial talks when he said thanks but no thanks.

This was very specific with a short time frame. If he retires on the 2nd, info was credible. If he doesn't, it was Bovine Scathology.

Looks like a plant to make it look like Mack decided to step down and he wasn't forced out. We have been told to look out for this type of smoke and mirrors. This was probably done with Belmont's blessing.

Oh great, Mack will be involved in the hiring?
That is purely for public consumption. We want to create the public perception that this was Mack's decision to hang'em up and that Mack will have input into hiring process ultimately blessing the hiring of Saban. The reason for this is it greatly helps in landing Saban. Saban does not want to be perceived as having been responsible for Mack being pushed out.

I may take crap for this, but if Mack decides not to fight this, I have NO problem with Belmont making it look like it was his idea. Yes, he stayed too long, but he deserves a respectable exit. I know many disagree, but I don't understand why--if is is truly leaving--people would harbor ill will towards him.

You would be incorrect.
I'll gladly take some credible info..if there was anything to this story it would be on every major network by now.things like this dont stay quit at big schools like this. i was told that the LHN and ESPN have restructured their contract to fit Saban's demands, yet ESPN wouldve released any information like that due to the fact that they are also in the ratings business and this story would be major ratings.im hoping im wrong, but nothing coming out of either school or other media outlets besides forums.

McP - Correct me if I'm wrong but with Patterson now on board I would expect things to go deathly quiet for the next 3-4 weeks. Since it now appears that Mac is truly going to retire all those in his corner will now do everything in their power to ensure that any negotiations or discussions currently going on will remain well hidden with no leaks to help ensure they give their top choice every chance to handle his exit and messaging in the manner he feels is best.

hooked, at this point it's the best path forward on all fronts. Mack keeps his dignity, Joe Jamail & Red McCombs are happy, the Steamrollers are happy because they're getting exactly what they want, and it satisfies one of Saban's demands.

Does not appear to be credible. Meetings like that, if there was one, is very confidential. The poster gives away who he is in the post if he was there. He would never be allowed in another such meeting. I just doubt that it is genuine.
Agree that this info wouldn't be leaked two weeks in advance if true. Like the message but not sure on the smell test here.

It gets the UT faithful clicking away on websites.thats all.

If this is true... what does it matter if its Mack plan or not... if he does it can you not appreciate what mack has done for the program. Its time but you don't have to be assholes. Just my thought

Makes sense.

Bought it until said poster outed himself.

Could be wrong though.

Looks like I missed something. Who was the poster and how did he out himself???

We'll see. I believe that would be a perfect time to do so. If Baylor beats OSU and we beat Tech, it might just give our players enough motivation to come out against Baylor and send Mack out with a conference title. Would be perfect.
Well, beating a good team like Baylor requires both brains and motivation, among other things. Brown and his team fail on the first requirement.

It wouldn't be a bad thing to have Baylor go undefeated, as it will at least make the miserable Big 12 look a little better, especially if Baylor gets to play for the NC.

I would agree 100%

So who is this EyesofTX guy? Has anyone found out who were at the meeting?

Why "first and only post" on OB?

Seems like an orchestrated leak to save dignity of Mack.

Also, having the announcement the day after Patterson takes on full duties seems interesting. Popcorn loaded!

Good point. Whats the difference btw Nov 30th and Dec 2nd?

Patterson doesnt have the official AD title vs Patterson being the official AD at Texas.

To me it seems like he would announce b4 Patterson officially takes over. Also, to me it seems like Texas would want the announcement after Baylor and maybe right b4 or after the bowl game. What this would do is decrease the time btw UT having a open HC job and hopefully Saban being able to make the announcement. The longer the gap, the more BS that will be forced to come out. Its not like there can be an open HC job at Texas and we not interview a coach for 5 weeks. That would raise a maroon flag a few states to the east of Texas.
