Lot of chatter about Coaches and DC's but....

IF Saban ends up as the next Head Coach, I doubt he will bring anyone in that runs any type of spread offense.

I'd like whoever the next coach is to keep Major (QB coach at least) and Wyatt both. Kinda doubt that happens though.

Some other names:

Philip Montgomery, Baylor - If we can't get Briles, why not get the guy who has been right beside him for a number of years?

Brian Johnson, Utah - Among the youngest OC's in the country and done a good job out there

Al Borges, Michigan - Productive under Hoke

Cam Cameron, LSU - Not sure if he'd leave his good friend Les Miles, but he's done a very good job there in year one

Options that might be available if they get fired:

Dan Mullen, Mississippi State - Had a very good run with Meyer at Florida

Dana Holgersen, West Virginia - New AD might want to hire his own coach

Kevin Wilson, Indiana - Ran some good offenses at OU previously

Ron Turner, Florida International - Norv's brother has done a good job previously

Both Dan and Dana have been HC and would make very good OC. I like both styles of O. If I had to choose I would pick Mullen.

I am very intrigued by Montgomery.

Montgomery is probably a longshot if the rumors about Briles going to aggy are true because I bet they'd just promote him. But he's been a guy that I've been really high on as soon as it became clear that Mack probably wouldn't be returning.

Why?Having attended some of the Mack Brown camps with my oldest son, I can verify that Major is a hard worker, good motivator, and doesn't even let the campers loaf on the field.

My son was walking at the back of the pack at the end of drills for water break, and Major called him out with "You don't walk on my field! You run!"

It got his attention.

He works well with kids and instructs with passion. And I think that now we are seeing Mack not "meddling" with the personnel and the gameplan, Major is calling a good game. And we know he can flat out recruit.

Aside from the one little indiscretion that came to light, I don't think he needs to leave or get run out of town. He's got the It-factor in my opinion to be the head man.

My two cents.
he screwed a student and should have been fired.

Here's a name, maybe not for OC, but for a position on staff: David Beaty current WR coach at Aggy.

Big time recruiter and outstanding position coach. Knows his stuff and is VERY well connected to Texas HS coaches. Former coach at Irving MacArthur.

Maybe we could just trade Mike Davis for Mike Evans after this season. They're aggys.

Pretty sure that Beaty was the guy that would have gotten the WR coach job if Wyatt had turned it down. He's definitely done a very good job for aggy. I would have no problems with the new coach bringing him in as WR coach and maybe Recruiting Coordinator or something along those lines.

I'd hate to lose Wyatt because he's done a VERY good job with the current crop of WRs, but Beaty would at least be on his level as a recruiter. Not sure if he'd be as good of a WR coach.
