Los Cornaduras Grande?

I'm not really sure of the benfits to the school to do that. Risky for fans not used to leaving the airport. It's due to mostly corruption if they have no experience in at least border towns, but it's a place I'd still go back too if I got the chance. You'd have to watch young UT fans, somehow. It's not Cabo. You don't get off as easy as the resort towns if you screw the pooch, if you will pardon the French I don't speak. It's a very interesting proposition.

I'm not sure I'm sold on playing in Mexico, but I must say it would be cool as hell to have a football game in Azteca. I've attended a soccer game at Azteca, and it's been bar none the most crazy environment I've ever been at for a sporting event. It would be cool to see a football game in a crowd like that.

Los Cornaduras Grande?
Mi hermano.

Most of the feedback I have seen on this idea is negative. Quite a bit of it strongly negative.

But I will stick with the minority nonetheless.

I would not just be in favor, I would probably go.

Would be a blast - esp compared to Lubbock or Waco or Stoolwater.

Street tacos for everyone!

Much like the nfl in Europe, I'm not keen on playing in Mexico City. Not sure if the soccer rabid base in Mexico would latch on to horns and spend money on merchandise. Would be interesting to see what positive outcomes jerry obtained with his recent preseason games in Mexico. Also, what about the dumpster fire that cancelled the spurs game down there!

They LOVE American Football down there. At least the NFL and more specifically the Cowboys. Part of it is because they don't have it and it is a unique experience. I think the Longhorns would do real well there as far a merchandise and return on investment. I am personally not a fan of going to a game there. Been to Mexico City on business and while it is huge and actually nice city, I just never felt comfortable there. Although I will say this, for events like this you would be treated very well. They take a lot of precaution around the fans as they don't want to lose out on opportunities like this. It generates a lot of money and more importantly good publicity. As bad as it sounds, even the cartels do everything they can to keep violence away as it would be very bad for them if anything happened.

I hate it from a fans perspective, but from a business perspective it is pretty big. It would also be a unique stage to sell the recruits on. To say that you are such a big program that you can do this is pretty cool.

absolutely. we need to own Mexico

The many landscape artists in my subdivision, sporting UT shirts, give the impression that we already do.

I'm just sayin.

Whether it's Mexico City, or a game abroad in general, I think it's a great idea. If done correctly, it can excite the fan base, add a new wrinkle to recruiting, and broaden the reach of the university from a marketing standpoint.

We will have to hire like 20 guys to make sure they don't stick a sword in BEVO.

Once. Maybe; if we can guarantee the players safety. And only if it's a national broadcast and not if we lose a home game. And I would not go to Mexico for any reason. I am a lifetime border resident and had done business in Mexico for 25 years (on the border and interior). The public is (deliberately) kept in the dark as to how dangerous it is there. I know 2 Valley residents that have been kidnapped and held for ransom and several more threatened or extorted (particularly if they are in their own TV commercials). Shootings are routine across the border and there's violence in Cabo, Mazatlan and Mexico City among others. I love Mexico and was across the border at least once a week on business or pleasure. No more.
