Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

This will be their third year doing it, I think.

The NFL is actively trying to divide us. No thanks.

The NFL is actively and has been trying to promote itself to kids on Nickelodean. Trying to replace us "old guys" with a more gullible target audience. They can stick their double anthem where the sun doesnt shine. We are all Americans and should stand together and not let them or anyone else divide us

This broadcast caught the eye of the younger generation. Most importantly due to the visuals and popular stars, the audience gained greater awareness and interest in sport. Nickelodeon's kid-friendly broadcast had hit 2.06 million viewers, making it the most watched program on Nickelodeon in four years!.

I initially didn't care who won the Super Bowl, but as the game progressed I found myself rooting for former Longhorn and current 49'er coach Kyle Shanahan. I guess he is 0-3 now in Super Bowls now while KC has won 3 of the last 5?

I remember the Dallas Texans moving to KC to become the chiefs with Lenny Dawson at QB, LB Sherrill Hedrick and center EJ Holub. I remember the 49ers and Cowboys playing often signing away each other's star players (Charles Haley and Deon Sanders) to get an edge.

Right there with ya
There was a time when I watched every NFL time-slot / game on TV. Now I watch about half of the Cowboy games, and nothing more. This isn't a formal boycott.... I just don't enjoy it any more. I liked it better when players huddled after every play, and referees did not. Now it is the opposite. There's another issue that has sucked the enjoyment out of viewing these games... but probably belong on a different forum.

I really hope college doesn't travel down these paths.

Since I quit watching pro football and basketball a few years ago, I have found that Sundays are less rushed and more enjoyable. I haven't yet been able to quit the Astros successfully. But I usually only watch in September and October. 10 months of long Sundays per year.
I quit MLB for years.... the Rangers drew me back in this post season. I will probably watch them next year during the regular season.

Correct. All three gave up double-digit leads. One as an OC and not HC though....

It was strange for me with MLB. I knew all the players and read all the box scores daily up until 1967. I spent that summer out of the country and was unable to keep up with any of that. From that summer on, I never cared or followed MLB again. It must have been something about the continuity of knowledge about the sport that kept me glued. When I lost that, all was lost for me. I didn't care any more.
