The doom and gloom is everywhere and I am not immune to whining on occasion. I'm done with it and it's time to move on. The 2013 football class is what it is and that's #20 in the nation. Of more importance is OU is the only Big XII team to have a better class and they are only 6 spots ahead at #14...but..and here is the good part. Only because they recruited 23 players.
According to Rivals they have 6 Four Star Recruits and an average of 3.13 Stars Per Recruit. Texas might have only 15 Recruits but we have 9 Four Star and an average of 3.6 Stars Per Recruit. Their Star Ranking is only exceeded by 7 teams so that's another good point. It just means that while all the SEC teams are red shirting players we will ask our young guys to play and contribute.
I realize the depth is going to be a problem but it just might be time to have those Freshmen from last season step up. When I hear we didn't get a RB but Brown, Gray and Big Joe ain't chopped liver. Add in Daje Johnson and I see great things in the running game.
There is another reason for hope. The play of David Ash in the Alamo Bowl gives me confidence and the arrival of Jalen Overstreet spells good things for the QB position.
Major looks like he weathered the storm and has agreed to keep his pecker in his pants. I really like the idea of him calling the offensive shots. I can guarantee you 2014 recruits won't dump Texas because of a boring ass offense that kept skill players on the bench. Applewhite is going to make the Big XII pay and pay dearly.
Next, we get a healthy Jordan Hicks and Jackson Jeffcoat. These two alone makes me just know the D is going to be better and a more agressive Manny Diaz will work. Add in a M'fer of a DTackle in Malcolm Brown and I say, "A'Shawn enjoy those inbred assholes in Bama." Brown is going to be a monster this year and he's just sophomore.
Next our competition got weaker. OU, KSU and WVU all lost their QB's. All will go high in the draft and all three beat us last season. Hell I see at least two wins in this group and maybe a sweep.
Lastly..stop with the doom and gloom. We're Texas and it's time we started acting like it. There is no way the 2013 version of the Longhorns won't be better than the 2012 version and the 2012 team won 9 games and the Alamo Bowl.
Then we can see more of this. It's Texas and shit like this happens my fellow Horns. Now stop the whining and be grateful you cheer for the greatest university in the world. The University of Texas. Hook EM!
