Lil Christmas Info

Whoa! The Duke!
Ready to go to war! But you at correct.
One of the funny things is that if Nick would just open up the lines of communication and ask what people think can be done to help the fan base re-connect with the program, he would get a lot of feedback that would make his relationship to social media an asset, make his job a lot easier and make UT football more fun than ever. He just doesn't understand the buyers are telling him his product or out of fashion and horribly outdated. What is his response? To start trying to apply subtle pressure that resists change and seeks to maintain the status quo. My solution? Obviously, he isn't willing to make any changes in how he handles his job and he is in charge of media. Fire his ass.

Nick Voinis is a hideous part of the problem. If anyone from Bellmont sends be "texts and emails" insisting I resist change, maintain the status quo, not allow the fans to exchange information and instead pay their "chosen one" to read information Bellmont has chosen for us to read (and not be exposed to any message promoting change withing the program) I would instantly tell them to go to Hell. They simply refuse to listen to the fans and they will only leaving kicking and screaming from their fat salaries and lack of accountability for their failures. Nick and a lot of others need to lave before the program can even begin the process of healing.

There's a new thread on OB saying the Jimbo is the number one target by Patterson and that Jimbo is very interested. TIFWIW
What's interesting is that along about mid-November El Mahico did say that Saban was not coming while everyone else continue to say otherwise and he was pretty much the only insider who was saying that. That tells me that he might have pretty good sources. Just saying.

It is called a contingency plan. One that we did not have in place before. I baffled on why this is so hard to understand?
McPhaul - Consider the "before". In spite of the "Big Cigars", "sources", "behind the scenes actors", "connections", yada, yada , yada - the truth is the only facts known to the general public was a meeting with two rogue BSD's with Saban's agent and Dodd's, Power's, Mack's, Alabama's, Saban's and Ms. Terry's denials that Saban was coming to Texas. The exclamation point was Saban finally signing the Alabama extension offer. During all this time Mack Brown was firmly entrenched as our head coach - there was no HC opening, thus, there could be NO contingency plans.

In fact, there were actually only two blogs supplying "behind the scenes" info that Saban was coming to UT - this one and IT. I firmly believe that you and IT were convinced that Saban was coming here, based on your trusted sources, and you reported this in good faith. But, the fact remains that Saban has signed with Bama and Texas now has an 8 person committee doing a HC search.

Because of all the Saban "sources" reporting and the end results being what they are, I have a "jilted lover" attitude going right now. In other words, concerning the first Saban belief - shame on you. The second, shame on me.

Until the so called "sources" are publicly revealed, to provide credibility, I will always look at Saban info with a jaundiced eye and believe it is simply grasping at straws. Because of the 100% inaccuracy of the previous Saban info, I've now taken the position of - PROVE IT!

Here is hoping I am 100% wrong and will have to eat future crow. I would gladly do that.

Fisher was a no way back then because there was ONE candidate and only ONE candidate that we were talking seriously with. At the time, Saban not coming wasn't a thought. A Plan was put in place and one person did not do what they were supposed to do and it fell apart. That person was a key piece as there is no opening without him out of the way.

He's out of the way.

Patterson comes on board right before the plan fell apart. At that point, he was given the keys. He makes phone calls to a short list of coaches. This is the first serious contact with Fisher. Fisher falls out of his chair and by the time the phone hangs up, he's got bags packed. The guy wanted/wants to come.

The fact that he called around to some coaches to answer some "what if" questions is no big deal and pretty standard. I would imagine those calls were also made by other people we talked to. But Fisher could have been more aggressive on that because he was so robust in his enthusiasm.

The talks with Saban, you could conceivably say there was just a delay in communication because things picked back up with Patterson and Patterson had Saban back on their playing field in short time (talking to us). Everything that was there that Saban liked before Black Friday was still there. I've heard the deal was sweetened, not with cash, but with assurances on certain things. He agreed.

I have no way of knowing whether or not Saban put his John Hancock on a piece of paper for us. That's a pretty intimate detail that only those close to the deal would know and that fact might well be kept on the down low until the announcement.

I realize all of you, including myself to be honest, want to know some sort of certainty is in place and I've shared my reason for having that certainty. But beyond that I can't provide anything more that would be concrete, unless I hear something told to me that would suggest that. Right now, I'm telling you I feel it's 100% and the reason I say that is the certainty with which it was told to me. It sounded to me like we had his signature on something. Just ask my wife, who has no clue what I'm doing anyway, poor lady, each time I hung up the phone I shouted at her "If I didn't know better, I'd say we had his signature on something!" She's like WTH?

Great-great Post

Here's the deal. We look at patterns in posts and yours have been 90% negative. You are welcome to post here and voice your opinion but if all you post is negative in nature you will be taking a break.
Yikes! I hope you don't feel the same about me. I just posted a rather negative post to McPhaul.

I don't like negative people either, but some are just constructed that way. That being said, this guy seemed to have issues with the blog, itself, and there always solutions to this - drop the blog.

I will take issue with one of the posters that said if you can't provide anything positive about the Longhorns, why are you here? I understand what he is trying to say, but I don't like a blog full of sycophants either. That is TexAgs personified, IMO.

Actually a done deal is almost always better having a backup plan in place. Right up to the signing of the deal. Even after. It puta pressure on the other party to fulfill their agreement and thereafter live up to it. It's a basic part of negotiating.
In my life, my biggest disappointments have been due to not having a backup plan in place. Total reliance on one outcome is a formula for disaster.

I think Texas got in trouble with Coach Brown by not having a backup plan. Years ago when Dodds, McCombs, Jamail and Moffett told him he could leave Texas on his terms there was no backup plan in place. They did not equate for the fact that Mack could lose control of the program ( for whatever reason, that's a different debate.) failure to have a backup plan has lead to four years in he wilderness. Lost and wandering about.

Had he been told he could leave on his own terms provided he meet certain benchmarks we would have had a backup plan. I don't believe anyone ever gave Coach Brown those benchmarks. That's on DeLoss and Mack and anyone else that made that statement to a coach Brown.
My sentiment exactly POCKEY.

If we are down to Saban and Fisher I feel confident we are about to turn this thing around. Saban knows what Fisher would be capable of at Texas. If Saban wants to get stomped by Fisher in the 2016 NC playoff final he can stay at 'Bama. All of these coaches know what possibility the Texas job offers. They would be taking over a program that is sound financially, pays top $, and they all believe they can out recruit, out develop and out coach the man they would be replacing.

I would be happy with either Saban or Fisher. I just want to see Texas back to kicking ass on the field again!

I can't speak for Mahico and I don't know who is source is, but, you and probably millions of others were just as right as Mahico was if you want to be technical about it. Everyone who does not have a source has a 50-50 chance of being right as it is.

But to be clear - Saban was coming to Texas right up until right Black Friday's events.

And according to what I've heard, he's coming the first week of January.

No change in what your source is saying huh? That's good to hear.

It's been very quiet. There's either nothing else to do on this or everyone is just enjoying Christmas and getting ready for their bowls.

There will likely be no additional information until after the New Years bowl games.

I would expect that it's a combination of the above plus now that Patterson is firmly in charge things will get done quietly and by the professionals with very little fan fare until closer to the announcement date. If the deal is truly done we might see more coaches saying they are not interested in the UT job but until I think we can all enjoy the next week or so of what resembles normal goings on and bowl discussion. After that it's party time.

Why wouldn't Saban come? Does this have anything to do with Mack's potential law suit?

If so.................................no. I better reserve that venom for the appropriate time.

Works for me. Sit back and enjoy the rest of the year, bowl games, ring in the new year, and then announce the new coach. Next week or two are going to be fun...

put me down as one of the one's wanting option 2 over option 1. i just don't think saban is the right fit but that's JMO
