#letsride

Truly never met or spoke to the guy outside of a few tweets. Never really had beef with him on a personal level until I was fed some information by people I consider good friends.
I thought you met him at the Austin happy hour.

Why not?

I'm surprised UT athletics didn't trademark the hashtag. Why is it a big deal that Higdon is now profiting from it? It's not like a prospective student-athlete made a shady deal co-sponsored by The University.

Looking at you, aggy #WRTS
Because he talks to recruits and now has a vested interest where these recruits choose to play college ball. It's not a good look at all.

Higs has the best info (IMO) but this is over the top.  He should give it up now. Admit a mistake and move on.  Quickly.

Seems like an aggy move (Higs is not UT fwiw)

Speaking of aggy, isnt Hamm actually on the dept payroll?  Or, am I thinking of someone else?
No the Aggy athletic department actually hates Hamm. Matter of fact they pulled his press credentials a few years back. You're probably thinking of Texags they are part of the 12th man foundation somehow.

Because it's a huge conflict of interest. Higdon actively engages recruits. That's his job as a recruiting "journalist", to engage recruits and get their feedback on things. He now has a financial interest in steering recruits to Texas.

It's not only tacky, but shady as hell.

"Regardless the team, I am in talks with high school football programs in the southeast, little league baseball teams etc,†Higdon continued. “Doesn’t matter if its 13 year olds, 18 year olds or 25 year olds, and regardless of the team they all must have a certain level of commitment. The ‘LetsRide Initiative,’ which means commitment to yourself, to your teammates and your coaching staff is something I came up with. It just kind of evolved into what it is today.â€

… Before Strong arrived in Austin prior to the 2014 season, #Letsride was not a part of the UT lexicon. According to the coach’s Twitter timeline, Strong first used the phrase on Feb. 22, 2014, after getting a commitment from Huntsville offensive lineman Buck Major."

Yeah, I've heard wild rumors. I don't feel comfortable with Higdon around recruits. This is one of the examples that make you shake your head.

No argument that it's tacky as hell, but he broke no existing laws or NCAA rules.

We should demonstrate our contempt by not buying the merchandise. UT coaches should stop talking to him, too. That will teach him a lesson.

I must not be one of the beautiful people. I have no clue who or what y'all are talking about.
