After watching all of his throws:

I think he executed the short game very successfully. Not to be taken for granted at this level but he hit the WRs and RBs at the LOS with passes with very good accuracy, leading them down the field to quickly start picking up yards.

His intermediate game was more of a mixed bag, some great throws (think the RPOs to Mitchell) but a few balls that were a bit off target.

His deep balls (and some other passes) were poorly timed and/or underthrown. Some were completed after great plays on the ball by the WRs/TEs and some weren't. Development helps him hit these balls on time or with proper depth on the throw but I am not sure we get that type of growth in 1 week.

Sark said the INT was also due to the WR running the wrong route. I do think it is at least partially on MM because that was an ill advised pass off his back foot with no juice on it.

I don't put much blame on MM for the fumble. Brooks and Conner (pulling to the right from his LG spot) were supposed to double the edge and Brooks allowed him to get to the outside. MM perhaps could feel that pressure but hard to do on that play as he is turning around to throw the screen to X. Bad execution and perhaps too complex of a play call in that situation.

Overall he made good decisions and mostly threw good balls. About what you'd expect at this stage for him. If he can improve marginally over the next few weeks the offense should be able to find a decent amount of success.

Thanks for the link.
I counted 10 targets to Worthy for only 4 receptions. That is not winning football, esp for Worthy. He needs the ball in space and certainly not diving for it (and, again, that pass was late).

IMO, the 4th down throw to Sanders was, again, too late. a receiver (whitt) can only be expected to engage in a block in space for about 3 seconds. by the time Sanders got the ball he was at whittington and had to jump over them. Sanders needed the ball about a second or two before then he can cut off of Whitt's block. If he got the ball a second beforehand, he could easily planted his right foot and cut straight up trotting into the EZ

Whitt is no receiver, he is a LG with a WR body. haha. His block was great. I agree, easy TD for Sanders if he gets the ball and can cut inside the block.

he only gets better, he gets more reps as QB1 in practice and I think his confidence soars, his team mates like him (not saying they dont with QE), he didnt get rattled after the TO's, the TD passes were confident throws and he almost had a third one

I get the vibe from many here and at the other place that he isn't the fan favorite and they think its QE or AM
and thats fine....I like our chances to run the table

With more experience MM will get a better feel for play timing with the 1s. I think he rode the fake handoff too long making the throw late. You dont need much of a fake to pause the LBs. That type of handoff is for RPOs (to pause the DE usually) and MM is not an RPO QB.

MM is absolutely a fan favorite. Anyone taking a snap for us is a fan favorite. IMO, MM is the only option in the situation we're in and I'm glad we have him.

I only want to play Manning if MM gets hurt.

MM just needs a haircut, that's all. lol

AGREE... MM is the man right now.

Maybe he should go to QE's hair stylist or de-hair stylist
Quinn's hair last year looked pathetic. So glad he took it off.

MM doesn't look bad, he just has too much of it.

I think they should maybe make a thing of it. When I was in hgh school, we all got buz cuts to show solidarity. Maybe the whole team could use a shot of solidarity

I’ll give him a solid B for his first start. He made mistakes and learned from them in-game. He didn’t get down after the INT and was still trusting his arm. His feet seemed antsy at times in the pocket and he threw from his back foot too often. The fumble was a screen in goal to go. Stupid play call in that situation and the defense blitzed it of the edge. The blockers didn’t have time to pick it up. I don’t fault mM for that. His timing was off some, but that can be attributed it being his first start and lack of reps with the 1’s. He will be a solid QB as a starter if that time comes.

Agree Maalik is the QB Is there a valid reason for Arch not to play 4 ganes and can still redshirt. Or would it be Wtight if Maalik goes down?

I thought Maalik did real well in first start.OL play got better after a few series. But still think play calling could have been better to help the QB.

I think if they are 3 TDs ahead or more, they need to find ways to get arch in 3 games. Going into next year, they will have two QB with multiple game experience

It’s a necessity to have two QBs with real game experience not just handing off. When have we gone a season recently without our QB getting hurt?

I have a question for you guys that keep bringing up Arch. Is it his last name that makes you think he’s gonna be good? Or have you seen something that makes you believe it?

So up until yesterday Texas did not have two qb’s with game experience.

Agree with all points. I see no harm in getting Arch some reps if we're ahead enough.

and you know as well as anyone on this board we start next year with a QB controversy made even worse if QE comes back

I agree that we should get Arch some reps if we have a good lead but if we come out flat and need a jolt, I think I would definitely try him in that scenario.

I made this point on another thread, what happens we play AM in garbage time and some cheap shot artist racks him while QE is on the IL, no way I want to go into the run for the CFP with MM and CW..no need to get greedy put Arch behind glass which reads break only in case of emergency

I want Arch to go up to the line and start yelling OMAHA OMAHA
