So we told Patterson no thanks, not the other way around?
Why is Dodds involved? It is never a good idea to be involved in finding the person who is replacing you. Dodds has made very bad decisions in the recent few years.

Thiggy, start the thread.

bbdude, just passed out some halloween candy, and changed about 5 diapers in the last 2 hrs. whats up with you?
Dodds WAS involved. The key word is was. Powers & crew appeased him. Understand this, Deloss Dodds was one of the greatest AD's of all time. It would be very short sighted of Texas not to hear him out.

7) So Brown retires (hypothetical). Look back at point number 1. There is a fear that many coaches that would normally be candidates for the Texas job may not want to put their name up for consideration. People like Wallace Hall are really hurting our chances because of the instability that they are creating. Even if the money is right, would a coach like Saban or Meyers really consider Texas if they weren't comfortable with direction of the program?

Yes, they would. Wallace Hall cannot hurt recruiting. Our new HC is not going to give Wallace Hall a second thought.

8) Kearney lawsuit - it will be filed before the end of the year. It will allege inappropriate relationship among athletic department employees and subordinates or student athletes. It will also allege that these relationships are handled differently or not at all. Kearney is seeking a $3mm settlement to go away. Any settlement above $1mm has to be approved by the regents and their initial response was no. If her allegations are true, their could be serious consequences in two mens sports and four womens sports.

Yes and this can really do damage to peoples career. IMO, it behooves Texas to pay the bitch off. I bet we do!! There is a lot more that can come out that we really don't need to go public. Let's flush this commode and move on down the road.

Is the potential instability of Powers and/or Bev Kearney affecting potential AD or HC decisions?

Yeah, I agree he has done great things in the past but i think he has really screwed us with the way he handled realignment and not making coaching changes past couple years. But when he retires we should congratulate him for the many things he has done for Texas.

Maybe, maybe not? Texas makes more money than any other school thanks to Deloss Dodds.

Let's not kid ourselves, Red & Joe have been in Macks corner. Doddds could not have made any changes even if he wanted to.

Texas will always be the Belle of the ball in college football. This story has not written itself.

Look here 66,
I share what I am being told. You should never put 100% on something you have no control over. I don't have any control over this.
That's cool. It was a simple question. I guess you answered it.

McPhaul,

What about the money? Just what amount is actually accurate / appropriate as per the standpoint of the Texas BORS? Alabama, keeps stating to all "that they shall match any sum that Texas projects". Do they actually have the means.... as per their BMDs? Will we be viewed as arrogant / assuming to think that they cannot match Texas? Just what is the reality here?

It has nothing to do with the said salary the school pays. The subsidizes is what separates the men from the boys. Saban has lost his ass with the Bama boys. He will do well with us.

No Brother,

I didn't give you the answer you wanted to hear. I understand that. However, you are a smart guy, how would you have me answer your question when I am a Level 3? You better look long and hard if you want some one to give you a 100% on something they have no control over.

Do we understand one another?

Assuming augie is out, who's next in line? I am guessing there is no insider buzz on baseball coaches yet, if any of the coaches deserves a pass its augie, but who would you like to see take the reigns?
If and When Augie retires, would Texas be better off going after some one like Savage at UCLA, Corbin at Vanderbilt, Fox at North Carolina or Mainieri at LSU or O'Connor from Virginia..Sure all 5 of those guys would listen but those guys are pretty well set in their respective school.

Fox is true Blue, Mainieri went to University of New Orleans, Is Set at LSU, O'Connor has built up Virginia, Savage is coming off of a CWS win and so on..

The Biggest advantage of recruiting in Texas is getting and building relationships with the select team coaches. Quite a few of these select team coaches have ties to the University of Texas.

This is where Skip and Tommy Nicholson have really excelled building those relationships with these Select Baseball Team..I have seen Tommy Nicholson at more Tournaments then I have ever seen Harmon at..

One of the things that I have noticed this year is that Johnson and Nicholson have taken over more of designing the Baseball Program, from weight training, practice, scrimmages, and scheduling.

So, what does all of this have to do with your original question.....

That When Augie steps down...Skip Johnson will be named the Head Baseball Coach....

Interesting, I knew Nicholson was a well thought of guy and and a young up and comer. I don't know anything about Skip though.

I'm looking forward to baseball being CWS good again. I love getting the baseball coverage on the LHN.

Pitchers come to Texas to work with Skip..Not only just the Longhorn Pitchers but Homer Baily and Clayton Kershaw will come to Austin to work with Skip during the off season.

Nicholson and Skip are killing it on the road...They only want players that want to play for Texas...1st!! Then the MLB..You will see fewer players leaving the recruiting class and going straight to the MLB..Texas only lost one last year..after losing I think 9-10 the last two years combine..
