Any way you see Mack back? I know it's been asked a million times. I apologize. I assume Luck is the AD in two to three weeks. Are you all in on Saban? Smart for bball? Might be a bunch of dumb questions.

Are you hearing anything regarding the plan for Swoopes to get in the game on Saturday? Is he mop up duty only or should we expect to see him throughout the game?
Lukus,

I have heard it depends on how the game is flowing? What that mean? I don't know?

Believe it or not but, I am truly excited for UT sports again w/ the possibility of all the new coaching hires. Is my excitement warranted?

djb, I am lookin forward to your baseball input as well.

Its interesting that there is still some buzz out there on realignment with the GOR in place and with the playoff coming next year. I heard an analyst once on sirius mention that texas never signed a contract it couldnt get out of, in reference to the GOR. Does Texas or any teams test the GOR prior to its expiration?
Great Question? I wish Randolph Duke was on the board right now.

In a separate post, you need to fill us in on the top prospects? I believe that info warrant it's own thread.
Sounds like a plan..There is one more tournament that is on my calendar....After that I should have enough data to do a detail post..

I try to follow realignment and very intrigued by it. Everything i have read has stated all teams from all conference have signed the GOR(except Sec, they dont have a GOR). Also, ND has an out from the Acc as long as its done prior to playoffs starting.

Texas would have had to sign the GOR for teams like Ou to sign it, makes no sense for other schools to sign if Texas isnt going to be there.

Big10 is trying to get around/find a loop hole in the GOR and if they do it could start up the realignment train again but it will be very difficult. Personally, i hope they dont find a loop hole, if you sign a contract you should live up to it. At the same time, i think the Big 12 is doomed long term. Things will change in 10 years, a lot! Maybe sooner if there is a break from NCAA.

Hey McPhaul can you please let me know your thoughts on the below that was posted on another board? I know, I know but most of the information seems to directly contradict information I've heard and what you post and I want a sanity check.

Athletic Department Update

1) Texas has swung and missed on their first choices for AD. Big 12 commissioner Bowlsby, OU athletic director Castiglione and ND athletic director all either said no to an offer or no to even interviewing. The no thank yous continued with at least one other AD. So that everyone is aware, it wasn't a money issue or opportunity issue, Texas is viewed as an out of control circus right now. Political attacks against Bill Powers, regents contacting potential coaching candidates, pending law suits all add up to an environment that most first tier ADs want no part of.

2) So who is going to interview? The AD from ASU, WVU, Maryland and or Michigan St look to be the good bets at this point. The internet has anointed Oliver Luck fro WVU as the heir apparent. Keep in mind that none of these guys have interviewed yet and it could easily go in a different direction.

3) Deloss isn't as involved on a day to day basis anymore. There are systemic problems in the AD department right now largely because of a lack of leadership. Plonsky is effectively running things on a day to day basis and it is a disaster. Coaches are squabbling over facility times, pay, academic resources, media resources and more. If Plonsky is well regarded for her skills in media and marketing, she is viewed as a terrible manager of people.

4) Whoever the new AD is, there are lots of problems to deal with immediately as well as some big potential hires over the next couple of years. Almost all of the ADs that Texas has spoken with want control of the AD department. Having a mens and womens department isn't a structure that they are comfortable with. Add in the Kearney lawsuit and I would guess that womens AD Plonsky is not long for her job in Austin.

5) Entrenched bureaucracy needs to change. The Texas AD has too many long time employees with comfortable relationships. At this point many of them are there to justify and defend their own inflated positions. The new athletic director is going to need to make sweeping changes throughout the department in order to change the culture.

6) If Mack Brown wins or shares the Big 12 championship, the decision to stay or go will be his. I have heard Bill Powers talk about his admiration for Brown on more then one occasion. If Texas wins 10 games and shows improvement 4 years in a row, Brown will not be pressured by the Administration to leave.

7) So Brown retires (hypothetical). Look back at point number 1. There is a fear that many coaches that would normally be candidates for the Texas job may not want to put their name up for consideration. People like Wallace Hall are really hurting our chances because of the instability that they are creating. Even if the money is right, would a coach like Saban or Meyers really consider Texas if they weren't comfortable with direction of the program?

8) Kearney lawsuit - it will be filed before the end of the year. It will allege inappropriate relationship among athletic department employees and subordinates or student athletes. It will also allege that these relationships are handled differently or not at all. Kearney is seeking a $3mm settlement to go away. Any settlement above $1mm has to be approved by the regents and their initial response was no. If her allegations are true, their could be serious consequences in two mens sports and four womens sports.

Lets just say that Texas could have 3 New coaches next year...
Assuming augie is out, who's next in line? I am guessing there is no insider buzz on baseball coaches yet, if any of the coaches deserves a pass its augie, but who would you like to see take the reigns?

MisterPink,

Welcome aboard!! Good to have you over here!

Yes, we are all in on Saban.

Our resident Basketball Expert Shaunsters, believes Buzz Williams is the leading candidate to replace Barnes.

I think we are stuck and that might not be a bad thing, with a playoff college is more like a pro game where there is an advantage to the team in a weaker conference.

Ford is a kid. He got in some problem when he arrived but has worked hard since. He was 3rd on the depth chart entering the season, but got the start Game 3. He was hurt during the UMD game and out since.

May think he's the "next big thing" and has all the tools in Dana's offense. He just needs reps and game experience right now.

Share with us on how he competed since he arrived on campus. For everyone's information, Ford is the son of Hall of Famer Ray Childress.

No, I have always said that Bowlsby was our first pick. That was a long shot but, worth trying. Swarbrick is happy at ND and there is no shame in not bringing him over. We told Del Conte & Patterson no thanks. At the end of the day, we are getting Oliver Luck and he was in our top group.
Also, it is important that everyone that said thanks but, no thanks were Dodds selections.

This is a large post and it deserves it own thread so, open one up and I will get to everything/

Where was this posted? A UT site?
Yes, a UT message board. One I've just read for years and never posted on - free not pay. I actually have my own sources, some very close to the program but have found some info from the other board to be accurate at times so I still visit from time to time, mostly for entertainment. Some of what was posted there directly contradicts what I've heard (indirectly not from any personal source) and I just wanted to hear McPhaul's thoughts on them. I've known of Darrell for a while without following him on any board and his intel has been pretty reliable so I would give what he says more weight than another poster but it is all still fluid till people sign on the dotted line.

So we told Patterson no thanks, not the other way around?

Why is Dodds involved? It is never a good idea to be involved in finding the person who is replacing you. Dodds has made very bad decisions in the recent few years.

Thiggy, start the thread.

bbdude, just passed out some halloween candy, and changed about 5 diapers in the last 2 hrs. whats up with you?

I changed a diaper on a baby pirate and ate some brisket! Let's get Thiggy with it!

Yes, McPhaul's stuff is the bomb but we all know information is fluid. Love the way this board is shaping up and appreciate all of the heavy hitters on the board (you guys know who you are).
