Email I sent to Mike Perrin...

Mike,

I hope you are doing well.

With the thousands of people you meet and interact with, I doubt you will remember.  Last season on the Friday before ou game, when the golf cart you were riding in stopped in front of Big Tex, I had the opportunity to meet and visit with you for a few minutes.

I was shocked and extremely disappointed to learn the kickoff times for early 2017 football games.  With all due respect, it is pure idiocy and ought to be criminal to play games in this area of the country in early September during the day.  The sun and heat are brutal.  Unfortunately, the folks who make these decisions get to enjoy the game from the comfort of an air conditioned skybox. Regardless of the TV money, if you guys sat out in the scorching sun at one of these games I’m sure that would put an end to September day games.

Hopefully, Coach Herman didn’t request day games for a competitive advantage.  If UT has to use the heat to overcome Maryland and San Jose State, the Horns ought to quit playing football.

I assume FOX dictated the 11:00 am kickoff for Maryland game.  But, why in the hell was San Jose State on LHN set for a 2:30 pm kick?

It seems to me that these early season day games potentially endanger the health and safety of fans, students, band, and players, et al.  My wife and I can no longer tolerate the direct sun and heat at these early season games.  Sometimes the heat during the night games is almost unbearable.

I have been a regular at home games since 1973 and a season ticket holder for 40+ years.  Earlier this spring if I had any hint these early season games would be scheduled for late morning – early afternoon kickoffs, I would not have renewed my season tickets.

If I can’t sell or give away these tickets, our seats will be empty for these games.  Longhorn Foundation contribution, parking, (2) tickets for (2) games = about $500++ wasted.  Thanks.

Thanks for reading my complaint and I hope you enjoy the season from the comfort of your luxury box.
