Ketch going off on OB

I am 100% against people claiming to have "inside sources" who are supposedly willing to violate confidences and neglect loyalties to the program and both the athletes and professionals that comprise the program. Instead, I enjoy the efforts of people who are willing to ask intelligent questions of people involved in the program and remind those people how answers to valid questions help keep people connected to the program and willing to pay to keep UT athletics vibrant.
Brother,

You keep saying that but, I have yet to read where someone has violated the confidences or neglected their loyalties that affected the program?

If someone were to do that, I'm certain that source would not have anything to do with them going forward.

And they post it within 2 minutes of the thread opening...

It's an art, not a science. You have to figure out who's adding value and contributing to the conversation. Anger and emotion is all good stuff; I'm guilty of it. If it's not at least a little rowdy it'll be too tame. But 20 guys saying 'first', 'you're not a coach', 'who are your sources', pointless attacks, etc - that's a waste of my time.
agree completely

Without mentioning names, here is an exact excerpt from a site claiming to have "inside information":

"I’ve been asked by folks close to the SID’s office if I was giving y’all information but nothing like what happened on that private website. At least not to my knowledge. I suppose my access would have been cut off if I was found out so I suppose I’m fine. At this point I’m not sure it matters, all of these guys know they’re gone and they’re just trying to position themselves for their next job with the exception of Deloss."

Why would someone worry that their access would be cut off if they were found out? Found out doing what?

Stuff like that bothers me greatly. People being worried about being "found out" obviously aren't respecting loyalties. If someone believes that Bellmont is so corrupt that things need to be brought to light they should bring things to light. I don't like people deciding to give information to certain individuals and not having their motives made public. PM me if you want the origins of the quote, but I think you can figure out where it came from. If I'm off base, tell me publicly or privately.

I think you should keep in mind that its possible the OP is dramatizing things a bit. IMO nothing gets public that people don't want public.

I like what we have going here. I think we have a chance to be a serious player in the UT coverage game.
Are there any plans to take this site behind a pay wall, say, after NSTF or candidate 2 is announced as the next coach? Efforting to see if there is an endgame here?

Not at this time. We hope to continue to grow the site and provide the best coverage of all UT athletics not just the three major sports. I personally would also like us to cover other issues related to UT such as academic areas, political etc. Lots of plans just need to implement and do it

Appreciate the straight response. You folks are building something pretty good here. Always a good thing to utilize best practices as well as what is hindering other sites (as Black Scholes so aptly stated) and implement it here along with fresh ideas of where the interwebs are heading. Once "that" decision is made to make this (or just the BOB) a pay site, I'm on board. I'm an advocate for multiple sources of information, as long as it's of good quality.

All this outing..Sounds like a gay site..

I'm outing Dude, oh and Big Mike..forgot JW

More outings later.

not ketch's finest hour, but perhaps not his worst either

~~ his threat to ban anyone who posted "no homo" on his board was a tad heavy-handed

OB is extremely eclectic

Lots of 20 to 30 something guys that are fairly immature.

Don't get me wrong, lots of good posters on there, the entertainment value is good, but at times it is pretty childish.

I'm a member of OB, IT, and this one. I've been on OB for years and things have definitely changed. I believe all boards should set a standard (whether heavy handed or not). I spent many years as Linux Admin/Engineer and had to moderate many types of servers/applications (email, chat, message board, etc...). It's a similar concept. You set a standard, and apply it across the board. This leaves little room for confusion and those that don't respect it are blacklisted for a specified amount of time or indefinitely. Possibly even limited to a read-only role. Although it may shrink the population, it strengthens the community. As a board owner/moderator, you have to put your feelings in your pocket. You're out there and open to criticism. Deal with, respond respectfully, and take proper or necessary action. That's just my 2 cents...

Linux,

We appreciate the input and are happy to have you over here!

Glad to be here! I think HS is positioned very well just before the "AD Boom". Given that it's so new and a lot of members have joined from other sites, it's a little bit easier to take note of past mistakes and be a little innovative going forward. There are a lot of good guys on here already. So many changes since I roamed the 40, and so much more to go.

Great software by the way!
