NS is still the lead dog by a nose and JF is ready to make the pass if NS and company hesitate down the back stretch. Right now there is a number one and number two and they are both great options. Beyond that there's a group of candidates who would have the same amount of positive and negative splash but there's a gap between number two and the rest of the pack.

With all the distractions going on with Brown and his hurt feelings, Texas is probably going to get hammered by Oregon Monday evening. If Texas is going to hang with Oregon it will be a player led effort, not a coaching one. Mack is going to be asked to step away, not forever, but for a while.

Mack should be asked to step away for about 20 years. Then he should give us a call and we can decide at that time where he fits.

Maybe we should treat him like Mike Leach did to Craig James' kid and put him in a dark warehouse.

Very exciting news, if accurate. Would love to have either NS or JF take over. \m/

Source? Just curious whether you actually know someone who would know these things, are conveying things that are being said elsewhere, or are simply stating your opinion.

Can't go wrong with either hire, IMHO. Just ready for it to be done so we can then get rumors and do plane tracking on assistants!!!

JS mentioned recently that Sally had given away all her UT gear.

Sally Mack need to leave Austin for a good while. its not going to be pretty for them. Maybe in 5 years or so after Mack has been on ESPN for awhile people would have calmed down

I sincerely hope Mrs. Brown didn't behave this childishly. But, if true, it will be best for the Browns to disappear for awhile. That's unfortunate, because I think Mack could've done some good things for UT and LHN.

Disappointing

I guess Sally Mack felt they were entitled to a life long contract at UT, with no repercussions for poor performance. It's ironic over the past few seasons people discussing the sense of entitlement that the players have, but it was their leader and his wife who have the largest sense of entitlement.

Mack thought he deserved DKR treatment especially since DKR had passed away. He wanted to be that guy and felt entitled to it.

He overplayed his hand and cache. He feels jilted and his ego has taken over. Someone with trust needs to talk sense into him but its too late probably at this point.

I like the 'spray paint dollar signs on his Class Act billboard' idea. Getting the message out.

Hard to blame Mack and Sally Brown if that's how they really feel because they have been conditioned to think like that by people around them - people with low standards and low expectations at Texas, the most famous of which being DeLossy (brain dead) Dudd. There are a lot of Texas fans (including some here) that simply have very low standards and expectations. Maybe it's a cultural thing, or a family thing, but I am convinced that such mentality / attitude has been a reason for Mack's long, overpaid tenure despite clearly incompetent performance.

The best thing that can happen for Mack Brown's reputaiton is for Texas to hire a top coach and start winning again, very fast. If we get back in the top 10 quickly then people will forget and forgive.

If we end up with a Franklin or Fedora type hire, Mack Brown will be resented around here for a long time.

I'm hearing similar stuff along with a dark horse that would be really really interesting.
