I'm writing a piece for the site on dream hires for assistants. I didn't take into account who would be head coach or scheme but I thought it would be fun to toss around. I even kept a couple from the current staff.

The article will hopefully be up tomorrow but here's my final picks.

OC - Scott Frost

Rb - Larry porter

WR - Darrell Wyatt

TE - Tim Brewster

OL - Joe Wickline

DC - Bud Foster

DL - Jim Jeffcoat

DB - Travaris Robinson

S&C - Shannon Turley

We are going to cover a lot of these names but I left narduzzi off because I think he has a head job soon

Derek Mason from Stanford. Has done a great job shutting Oregon down last couple yrs.

OC - Ed Herman, Ohio State

RB - Ricky Williams

WR - Darrell Wyatt

TE - Derek Lewis, Florida

OL - Mike Bloomgren, Stanford

DC/DBs - Jeremy Pruitt, Florida State

DE - Oscar Giles

DT - Jim Jeffcoat

LB - Sal Sunseri, Florida State

OC/QB: Kyle Shanahan (Redskins) - His father might get fired in Washington. I think it would be healthy for Kyle to move to the college ranks and get a change of scenery.

RB: Larry Porter (Texas) - One of the best recruiters in college football. His RB's hasn't been bad this year, so I see no reason to change.

WR: Darrell Wyatt (Texas) - To me, he is the best coach on the current staff. Great evaluator and developer.

TE: Tim Brewster (FSU) - Everybody knows why. We need more VY's!

OL: Rick Trickett (FSU) - If I remember correctly, he was one of the first hires Fisher made when he got the FSU job. FSU has a great OL.

DC/DB: Jeremy Pruitt (FSU) - I like him. Has coached under quiet a few great HC's. Once again, he's a great developer. He'll get the same amount of talent at Texas that he has at FSU.

DE: Oscar Giles (Texas) - After Wyatt, Giles is my favorite coach. Has been putting a lot of guys into the NFL over the years.

DT: Ed Orgeron (unemployed, former USC) - I'm sure he'll get a DC job somewhere, maybe even HC gig, but as of now he is unemployed. Texas DT coach > unemployed.

LB: James Vanderlinden (unemployed, former Penn State) - He recently got fired at PSU because Bill O'Brien wanted a change. He has been the man behind "LBU". With a lot of young coaches on the staff, a guy with his experience could be worth gold.

Obviously made with Jimbo as the HC.

Here's mine with the schools

OC - Scott Frost - Oregon

Rb - Larry porter - Texas

WR - Darrell Wyatt - Texas

TE - Tim Brewster - Florida state

DC/LB - Bud Foster - Virginia tech

DL - Jim Jeffcoat - Colorado

DB - travarris robinson - Florida

S&C - Shannon Turley - Stanford

Jeremy Pruitt D/C FSU currently up for the Broyles award was with Saban 6 years before signing on with FSU with Fisher who was with saban when he won the National Championship at LSU. Never know.

Great read

Question; Do you think Scott Cochran's approach to S&C has any bearing on their player's performance in the NFL? I don't think there is an epidemic or anything, but it seems to me that some of those guys go in to the NFL with a lot more miles on them physically. I believe I read that somewhere as well.

I'm a fan of Turley myself. No offense to the other two, but Turley seems to take more of an educated approach to S&C.
