Jordan Spieth

Take Dead Aim. Where is Spieth on the leaderboard today?

Maybe to far back to stage a comeback now. Dang. Would love to see him win this tourney.

Who's he playing with? Haven't had the opportunity to watch any of the Crosby yet.

It was always one of my favorite tourneys. The wifey would usually come out and we stayed at the Tickle Pink instead of the room provided by CBS. I would work, the wifey would shop then we would eat and drink like fools every night.

When I retired from working the road for CBSSports, I figured over the 12+ Clambakes I worked, despite working like a dog during the days and making good money, I actually gained weight and lost money after all the stuff the wifey bought and stuff we ate.

There were always more than a few fully decked out Texas fans in the Gallery and I did what ever I could to get them in frame. Lance used to call me out on it from time to time too.

Spieth rebounded nicely today. Yes, too far back to contend but currently tied for 3rd place, 7 strokes back.

Glad I have some else to root for besides Tiger. Spieth ended the tournament at -8, tied for 4th place, 4 strokes back.

He definitely reminds me of Tiger. Great determination and desire to win. No weaknesses in his game and when his putter gets going; he is phenomenal! Fun to watch for a long time!

From June 2012 --

Light the Tower burnt-orange: The members of The University of Texas’ men’s golf team are national champs once again. The No. 2 team pulled out a thrilling victory today to top No. 1 seed Alabama and win the NCAA men’s golf championship.

It is the team’s third National Championship and its first since winning back-to-back titles in 1971 and 1972, when PGA Tour golfers and major championship winners Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite were on the team.

Senior All-American Dylan Frittelli birdied the 18th hole to lift the Longhorns to a 3-2 victory at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles. Frittelli, who is from South Africa, sunk the 30-foot putt in his tied match against Alabama’s Cody Whitsett.

Las Vegas PGA TOUR Betting Public Loves Jordan Spieth

http://www.golflasvegasnow.com/golf-betting/2395-las-vegas-pga-tour-betting-public-loves-jordan-spieth.html

Las Vegas, Nevada (February 11, 2014)--
Fast-rising PGA TOUR superstar Jordan Spieth didn't open as the favorite to win the Northern Trust Open this weekend at Riviera, but by the time the event tees off, who knows. In odds released by Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com, Dustin Johnson opened 12/1 followed by 2013 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open winner Webb Simpson at 15/1. But Spieth opened as the third favorite at 20/1. According to Las Vegas PGA TOUR betting expert Jeff Sherman, Spieth is a favorite among the bettors.

"Recently Jordan Spieth has been the most supported golfer each week that he played," says Sherman, the founder of GolfOdds.com. "Last week for Pebble Beach he was our largest liability, and he currently has the second most tickets for the Masters behind Jason Day. The betting public is also supporting him for the FedEx Cup so they are infatuated with him."

This story is Spieth and UT golf related. Someone new to cheer for and follow.

THE WOODLANDS — Doug Ghim had one of those rounds Monday where all facets of the game came alive. Actually, the 17-year-old played outstanding the final two rounds of the 54-hole CB&I Boys Championship at The Club at Carlton Woods.Ghim shot a final-round 6-under-par 66 on the Fazio Course, and his three-day 12-under 204 was good for a five-shot win and broke Jordan Spieth's 2011 tournament record by two strokes.
The outcome was never in doubt after the Arlington Heights, Ill., resident birdied six of the first eight holes Monday.

"It felt extremely easy," said Ghim. "Just hitting shots where I wanted to. Just let myself go and let my clubs do the talking.

"In terms of ball striking, this tournament in general, I don't think I've hit the ball so comfortable. This week, every time I was over a shot I was comfortable. I knew what I wanted to do with it. I just hit it to where I imagined and made a couple of birdies along the way."

No one could keep up with Ghim in the tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Association that featured many of the top junior golfers in the country. Ghim hit all 18 greens on Sunday and 17 on Monday. His only bogey came on the final hole on Monday, just missing the course record of 65.

* * *

Ghim, who has signed with Texas, entered the final round tied for first with Yuan, who shot 71. Wearing a white Longhorn cap and burnt orange shirt, Ghim birdied holes 2-4 and 6-8 to take control of the tournament.

"It was crazy," said Ghim, who made the turn up by four. "It just kept falling in. It seemed like every time I got behind a putt they just kept going in.

"It was to the point it was ridiculous. It was like I tap it somewhere, not sure where the read is, I see the last six inches of the putt and it's dropping."

Yuan birdied the 18th hole, after his tee shot found a left fairway bunker, to tie Zhang for second.

Past winners of the CB&I Boys Championship (at a different venue) include Spieth, Tiger Woods, David Duval, Jim Furyk and Rickie Fowler.

Tiger is a good looking guy, wealthy and has tremendous golf talent - but he has been revealed as a dog. Here's hoping Spieth flys the straight and narrow - his future appears to be awesome.

Spieth is onto the quarterfinals after defeating Kuchar today. He plays The Big Easy, Ernie Els tomorrow.
