Jordan Spieth’s path to Under Armour began exactly as you’d expect: when a former Redskins defensive lineman started covertly following the teenage phenom during a practice round at Congressional Country Club.
Spieth was then a freshman All-American at Texas, playing Tiger Woods’s 2012 Washington event as an amateur. And Ryan Kuehl — a star athlete at Whitman turned University of Virginia lineman turned NFL veteran turned Under Armour executive — already thought he might be a fit for the Baltimore apparel company, which was looking to make a major play in golf.
