les koenning jr. circa (1970) HFHS                                                    les koenning jr. TEXAS WR COACH 2014

aaahhh yes.  i just wanted to stress to all... what a very wonderful, and yet small world that we live in.  les koenning sr. father of our current wide receivers coach les koenning jr.

was once the head coach / athletic director at hamshire fannett high school, hamshire, tx.  HFHS, shall be the alma mater, of yours truly monarch.  although, i was just a kid back then, i can assure each and everyone of you

that hamshire fannett hs, was a football powerhouse upon the beaumont / golden triangle region.  those were indeed fun times.  hopefully, as this season unfolds.. i shall be able to walk up and shake coach koenning's hand at DKR.  small world indeed!

my bad i guess. you had a picture of les jr labeled HFHS '70 when he would have been 11 yrs old. i was confused.

Little Les came to Memorial right after me. My brother played with him.

Actually Les worked for hours trying to get mt brother to learn how to catch the dang ball since he was the fastest guy on the team, to no success. My brother moved to defense but they have remained friends.

I had a few classes with Little Les at UT. Pretty smart guy actually. He has worked for and with some of the best coaches in the biz. I think we're pretty darn lucky to have him.
