The good news is if they are re-evaluating it probably means they didn't find a break in the initial X-rays. Probably the best move to rest him with UCONN coming up in 9 days. I think we can beat Cal without Taylor. I didn't think he was going to play tonight, even if it was just a sprain it would be sore as hell right now.

IT reporting he has a broken wrist and will miss 5-6 weeks. Damn. Only good news is he will be back for conference play.

Just need to get Taylor back healthy, but we will be fine in non-conference play without him.

Cal (neutral)
Saint Francis (home)
UCONN (away)
UT Arlington (home)
Kentucky (road)
Texas State (home)
Lipscomb (home)
Long Beach State (home)
Stanford (home)
Rice (home)

Texas will go 7-2 or 8-3 at worst. The toss up games are Cal, UCONN, Kentucky and Stanford. UCONN and Stanford have both struggled early so those are both winnable games, even without Taylor. I think we beat Cal tonight. We probably lose to Kentucky. My guess is we go 7-2.

Texas opens Big 12 play on 1/3 against Tech. That gives Taylor 5-6 weeks to recover.

Jeff Goodman, of ESPN,  tweet:

Isaiah Taylor expected to be out for several weeks with this wrist injury, source told ESPN. However, it's not season-ending. Story coming.

He is out for the non-conference season. As important as he is, it's better to have him healthy for Big 12 play. Javan Felix has stepped his game up so I have no issue with him filling in for Taylor.

This means you will see more minutes out of Connor Lammert and Jordan Barnett. I think Rick Barnes doesn't trust his guards that much so you'll see a rotation of Felix, Yancy, and Holland more often than not. That means the bigs are going to get significant playing time throughout the non-conference schedule. It's a tough loss for sure but healing is more important at this point.

I'm down at UT for Watson & Bedford. Even UT people have differing stories (from 1 week to a month and a half). My advice is to wait until the team returns to Austin - there likely won't be confirmation until he's examined here.

i guess as long as they haven't called the priest in and notified next of kin, we'll survive all this.

they haven't, right?

ok, what about his very own pain factor!  didn't we all witness him shooting free throws at the line right after this happened?  he got up rubbing his hand / wrist... then the coach kissed it... then we were able to view one of the team assistants / doctor's rubbing it... then he commenced to walking around rubbing it... why didn't they immediately take him to the back and perform an x-ray like they normally do?  certainly they all were aware of the game tonight with cal....  they then iced it...

with all of today's immense medical technology, you mean that it has to take this level of circus effects to find out if someone has sprained / broken a wrist?  also, i thought that this was one of the most depth wise and strongest teams that barnes has ever placed forth upon the court... so why is so many acting as if we are now immediately susceptible of losing a few games without this particular player... are we a top ten team or what?  you mean to tell me, that if kentucky loses one particular player... then all is indeed lost?  this is weird!
