This may not be popular but I can no longer go by these "what I'm hearing threads". Level 1 is on the committee...his underlings are a 2 so let's say an additional 16...level 3 would be approx 64. There is no way a coherent message can be leaked. This means a level 4, all 256 of them are hearing diff messages (that's if they are hearing the gospel...which is doubtful).

I believe there are a dozen people max that know who is the next HC and everything else is mere speculation. I appreciate the info that is passed along...glad I bought a new 1 lb box of salt.

Level 1's talk more than you think they do.
Don't doubt that at all...as a matter of fact, that is what I am saying...I envision the old psych experiment of a message starting out one way and ending totally different.

My point is, the original leak is watered down a bit...no disrespect intended. I'm just gonna take all of the "new insiders" info w/ a grain of salt.

I pay attn to you, Nuu, Depock, Magic Loogie, etc...but you have to admit the number of "what I am hearing" posters has multiplied greatly.

I have doubts myself, but what is a person to do if they hear something? Keep it to themselves or share? The person who leaked the info wants it to be put out there or why else would they do so? This is where it gets murky to me. Why are they talking?

To dilute the message?

I have doubts that any level 1's leak any real info. They wouldnt have gotten that far in their professions to be where they are now if they did so. Its not good for business if you leak sensitive info in regards to the direction of your company. Only gives your competitors an edge so for me, it doesnt make sense that they would talk.

Have you ever read the New York Times, or the Washington Post? If politicians at the highest level or military officers at the highest level leak info to the press on a daily basis, college sports supporters can reasonably be expected to do the same.

Level 1s are Alpha's

They talk to who they want to

Patterson will do everything he can to control the message.

gee whiz, there's a lot of angst on the boards right now. Saban's coming, no he's not, yes he is, no--its Jimbo, no it's not jimbo, it's Gus, ad infinitum.

its time for everybody to just take a deep breath and let it play out and then we'll know. personally, i'll be happy with any of the one's being mentioned at or near the top. i personally don't think saban is the right fit, but if he comes, i'll certainly be happy with that result.

if there's a lawsuit over this i'll be surprised, and if it does happen, severely disappointed in Mack. i hope that the rumors are just that and no more.

The way I look at it is you should always take everything with a grain of salt. Read the information that is made available for you. Obviously there are some fake "look at me" insiders, ones that are there to plant information, and then the fewer legit insiders. Even with the legit insiders there is always a chance of wrong or misinformation depending on their source(s).

Biggest thing is to take all the information and draw your own conclusion and remember that it is always fluid.

For those that have been around for a while...

"I'm stunned, I'm pissed. It's Mack Brown"

As a former sports journalist (30-plus years), I can tell you I was often times given heads-up information from sources, whether it be a hiring, retirement, dismissal, signing, or whatever. I was given this information as a courtesy, which would allow me to prepare my story and break it first, but not break it until it was an actual factual event. I mention this only as an example of people "in the know" do indeed sometimes talk. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss some things posters are hearing, though, yes, sadly, some of it could very well be fabricated. This will all come to an end soon and then we can all judge who can be trusted to believe in the future when "inside" information is posted. Have a great day everyone.

I like reading it. My perception from reading these boards and my wife's perception from reading only the newspapers are almost 180 degrees apart.

Interesting how Bellmont controls the message to the mainstream media.

"Well, hello Mister Fancypants! I’ve got news for you pal, you ain’t leadin’ but two things, right now: Jack and shit… and Jack left town."

I have never met anyone that did not get something wrong. However, that does me I no longer trust them.

They dont typically run stories that they cannot confirm, if they did then they would be running these rumors as well. Totally different situation. No way you can compare politics or military to college coaching searches. They aren't on the same level.

As I said the ones that I trusted before I still trust...it's just that the boards seem to be flooded right now w/ pseudo-insiders
