I'll ask again: Why not Gundy?

If Saban isn't/doesn't happen. And Myer is a no go. He's at the top of my list. I offer him $6 mil + and go up if needed. He's the best coach in the Big 12 and one of the best in the country. Already recruits Texas, etc. etc..... WHY NOT GUNDY, DAMMIT?

I doubt we could get him. Boone would match and exceed anything Texas offers

T. Boone is worth between $950M and $1.2B.

Jamail, McCombs, and Rowling are worth around $7.5B

If we want to outbid Pickens, we will outbid Pickens.

GUndy is about to get his second Big XII championship (once they beat ou). That will, give him as many conference championships as a certain coach in Austin, TX in half the time. I would not complain if Gundy is named HC.

The difference between billions when talking about donors or whatever is totally irrelevant unless we were set to offer him $900 million. Clearly OSU could match any offer we put forth and besides, we aren't getting Gundy. Isn't this one of those "dream job" gigs?

Probably worth a all, doubt if he would come. A lot more likely to get Anderson from Wisconsin, if Saban doesn't come

We will only approach three, maybe four guys. It wont go further than that. It will be a big splash. A huge splash.

I just scratch my head at the guys that think " hey, that guy has won at the Div 3 level with absolutely no talent. Look what he would do at Texas with a lot of Talent." Well, it doesn't work that way at Texas. We'll get a GREAT Coach that also is a proven big time program manager. Muschamp is a good example of how the wrong hire from a program manager standpoint can be a huge mistake. Patterson will want a Coach, Manager, Media Darling and a person of high character. He'll want to make the hire and turn him loose without any worries.

Now the Basketball Coach may be a little different. Patterson may well want to just find a COACH. I believe he will want to be more hands on with the BB program. But that's just speculation.

There aren't many huge splashes out there. Who are they? Saban? Meyer? Neither of those guys is realistic, in my completely uninsider opinoin.

Well by your criteria, there are only. 3 guys that meet it, Meyer and Saban and Harbaugh. I have my doubts that any of them will come, if not who is your big splash with a successful college record .

We need the next Meyer or the next Harbaugh, we may need to take a chance on a successful younger coach.

Program has become to big, to profitable and to big a contributor to the academic side of UT to take a flier on a young and up and coming coach.

I know many of you absolutely hate the LHN, which is a head scratcher to me, but it's here to stay and we need a Coach that can leverage that asset to promote UT and get in the minds and hearts of kids everywhere. If utilized correctly, it really is an unfair advantage recruiting wise. Both for Athletics and Academics.

He's a good coach and a decent man. He's also coaching at his alma mater. I don't think he comes our way.

T-Bone will never let him go.

Mike Gundy might become a victim of his own success.

Oklahoma State is not an established power. Texas and Oklahoma will get back to being top dog in the conference again. Cowboys fans will expect championships and when the Cowboys go back to being mediocre, he will be on the hot seat. He should leave Okie State but I doubt it's in conference. Maybe Florida or USC.
