I may get bashed for this...

What??No one said no one couldn't hate him. I just said it gets old hearing grown men whine about how much they despise him. That's all.
Equally as old listening to Mack apologist. Feel as you wish about the man. Everyone is entitiled to think and post as they wish as long as no rules are broken.

Not trying to be a jerk, but which part is impossible? Winning the conference twice? Winning a national title? Why are either of those impossible? Now, hanging on for 16 years, that requires some serious networking.
I figured someone would bring up Conf. Championships, and it's a valid argument. But how many 9 consecutive 10 win seasons do most programs get from one coach, winning seasons, Bowl game appearances? Granted Stoops has had his number, and the Conf. championships.

But Mack's tenure is more than admirable. I'm not defending the past four years, but OVERALL it's hard to complain. It's much easier to look at the bad and to be spoiled by the good times. It is his time to leave though.

I look forward to the future. It's time and it's bright.

"Apologists."

LOL.

That always makes me chuckle. Quite an exaggeration.

Good points. It is time, but one would have to be foolish to not look back on Mack's overall career and deem it a good one here at Texas. Absolutely foolish.

Agreed about the Bama NC game. IT? Really? I can hardly stand the hate towards Mack there. No matter. I agree with the rest of your post.
Yes I am a member of IT, also 247. I did the free trail membership at OB 4-6 weeks ago and didn't like the content or format so I stopped after 5 days. I don't think IT shows anymore or less hate towards Mack then any of the other sites including this one. I love recruiting, that's why I am a member 247. I think they have the best recruiting site of all the boards that I have been on and they have it now that you can read all the other team sites. I have spent a lot of time reading Baylor and Florida State's board the last few days about coaching rumors. I have been a member at IT for over 4 years and 247 for around 3 years and have less than 20 posts on both boards, maybe that's why I don't have a problem with them. I suffered a serious injury while in the military and part of it was brain trauma so usually when I try to post something I read my post over many times and usually say screw it and delete it before I post it.

Thats why I said that....I have been following this two step with these two all day and has seemed JimR gets a little more backing than he should. I stick by what I said because that it what it seems like.
There is more than meets the eye sometimes. Nobody is getting more backing than anyone else. We are all friends here.

Sorry to hear that and thank you for your service.

I'm new at IT, and since it's been a hot topic, I've probably noticed it more than most would.

God bless you!

I would like to apologize...I thought someone was being ganged up on without knowing the whole situation and I opened my mouth without giving the Mods a benefit of handling the situation. To the "VIP"...I am truly sorry my friend and I hope that you will accept my apology. I have complete faith in the Mods and Horns Sports to handle these situations and I will not make that mistake again.

Not emotional at all. Consumed with excitement that the past four years are FINALLY over and we can start fresh with an actual football coach who will scheme properly and recruit efficiently.

I think EVERYONE agrees with that sentiment.

I didn't graduate from UT but my daughter did in 2007. I've watched the Horns from a distance for many years and I can say with certainty that Mack Brown carried the UT torch in the most sophisticated, professional and winning way possible. I graduated from Georgia Tech and would have given anything for a coach like Mack. He has been beaten up pretty badly recently but I truly believe he really thought he could fix it after bama. Great coaches are optimists... how else can they project winning to a bunch of 18 year olds.

I also believe he will be very well remembered by the hoards who love the Longhorns. He will be talked about for generations. Pretty nice send off.
