We don't hate Mack. We just think the game passed him by as he stayed around four years too long and wouldn't accept he didn't have what it took to get the program back on track.

The Mack hate is rampant on this board. It seems to have escalated since he announced his retirement.

If you want to blame him for the QB situation, I get that and agree, but so far, the mistakes have been on the players (again, I get Mack is the one that brought them in --or more importantly didn't bring in the ones that needed to be).
That said, Brown is kicking a&& tonight. Exactly the right game plan against a team like Oregon.

but while I do think it was time for Mack to go, I am much more emotional than I thought I would be watching LHN covering his last game. I wish it could have ended differently for him here, and I know that hating Mack is the "in thing" right now, but I don't care. If there is any truth to the rumors about him lately, I hope that time will heal all bitterness.

No hate towards your comment. What Mack has done during his 16 yrs. at Texas is almost impossible to repeat. The last four yrs. have been very very very rough and highlight recent feelings. But as a whole, what he's done for this program is incredible. He didn't go out on a high note, but no one can complain of what he's accomplished or created at UT. Hook 'em.

Just made mistake of visiting other boards. I get the anger, but the name-calling and Mack bashing is brutal. Terrible.

As someone posted on this board, it's time to move on. It's time for him to go, but he rebuilt the program. Now it's someone else's turn.

Not trying to be a jerk, but which part is impossible? Winning the conference twice? Winning a national title? Why are either of those impossible? Now, hanging on for 16 years, that requires some serious networking.
