I feel sick

Jesus still not hearing it's Watson
I will still give strong a full chance
No disrespect to you but that probably means it's Watson. I remind you he was the last one to hear Strong..

Coordinators can basically make their offense a spread using formations and motions. A power under center is blocked the same way in the pistol, and the same way in shotgun. It's not that hard to use more of your motions that are already in the playbook. A fly motion for instance under center bring one wr to the other sd, the same could be run in the gun, and be used to hand the ball to a wr (daje's play) so it would be like quad fly B sweep. I'm not in favor of the hire at all, just saying that Coach Strong's statements about being "up tempo" and "spreading" the ball around does not mean he will go out and get a "spread coordinator" per say.

Also that Nebraska team was great on d, but their offence wasn't really all that talented, other than a few guys.

Man that is truly truly disappointing. Is there not anybody in his ear warning him that this decision could go very badly?!?!?

I hope this doesn't happen. This goes against everything he talked about in his PC yesterday. Texas high school football players will not want to play in Watson's offense.

...may we please offer a bit of respect as per our new head coach's decisions. obviously, coach strong has developed a great deal of trust as per coach watson. should anyone doubt coach watson's ability... then please reference louisville's overall record, with watson at the helm of oc. pretty impressive to me.

Sounds like the Mack Brown-Greg Davis relationship.

I'd rather have Davis than Watson.

Considering everyone not named Bobby or Chip whiffed on just about everything coaching related (mods here, included) I wouldn't be so quick to throw anyone under the bus.

I saw him mentioned on chatsports a few days ago, but figured it was just talk. Maybe blind loyalty is CS's weakness?

Go look at his offenses while at Nebraska in the same conference he's about to face again. They were pitiful. Did you watch the Big 12 title game where their defense basically scored all their points?
Texas is a spread state. We need a spread OC. Watson is not that guy. Who are you going to want to play for? Him or Briles? Sumlin? Kingsbury? Etc.
We'll stated. This is the problem with Watson not to mention he has no recruiting ties to Texas

Just imagine Watson recruiting to his offense versus Baylor, Tech, OU, Aggy.. NO THANKS

Thought we were going up tempo and spread from the press conference?
Same. Watson is not a spread guy. I simply don't understand this hire if it happens.

LL, while I'd certainly prefer someone else, I think a much better review would to be to look at the offensive stats from Louisville. I get that he had a great QB, but folks that say "he only did that because of Bridgewater" don't make a lot of sense to me. He developed Bridgewater and adapted the offense to his skill set. However, as I said, I certainly prefer someone else.

Jesus and IT will be the last site to hear if it's Watson.
Again, stop with the hating. Every site has been hit or miss the whole time. Jesus has been right plenty, and wrong plenty. No need for these comments.

I'm a spread guy myself, however excluding Cam and that Auburn team...it's been the traditional offenses that win nation championship. That said I hope it's not Watson. If it is that also does not mean you will see the same offense that you saw w Teddy. A good OC will study all style and mix and match to suite his talent. Texas' offense this year was more "pro" than "spread", however they attempted to blind the two, which seems to be the best way to go. Pro and/or Spread are just ideals anyway. It's about the players and the play call in the situation. I thought it was strange that he wanted to be a spread coach since he is a defensive mind, those two things do not usually mesh.

Watson is the coach at Nebraska when we played them for the Big 12 and He mocked (in front of the whole nation) Colt on the sideline when Colt went down. I do not want HIM at all. Also Nebraska fired him.

Watson would be a disastrous choice.

He's not a spread guy.

As happy as I am to have Charlie this would nearly erase it.

The whole marriage of this hire was centered around who the OC would be and making a good hire. I feel sick.

You could be right.

My issue is that right now we can't afford to bring someone like this in when we could go out and get a name with more skins on the wall. If we do hire Watson we better bring in some A++++ recruiters and coaches on that side of the ball to make up for the negative recruiting that we are going to be facing.

Claude Mathis for RB coach would be huge because that would give us an in with the HS coaches.

Wickline, Klemm or Searles at OL because they are all good recruiters and coaches.

Todd Dodge would be my outside the box hire at WR coach. He's developed some good ones in the high school ranks and deserves another chance in college.

All he said was he wasn't hearing the same. He's not reporting a new guy yet or that strong didnt talk to Watson

IT is right a lot so don't get they are the last to know now. Kirk bohls just confirmed the saban stuff on Monday Jesus has reported for many months

I still don't see how this move would fit strongs own comments so will wait and see
