Why so many people trash this board on other sites lately yet clearly read what's posted? The dislike for Mcphaul by some seems pretty strong which makes no sense considering people called for his info often when he was still elsewhere.

So far this board has picked up some of the best posters out there who are sick of places with constant personal attacks and general lack of intelligence. Maybe people see the potential in this place as a threat...I dunno but what in the world here sucks so bad to see it bashed every time it's mentioned elsewhere?Strange

Sorry, Dizz, but I feel the same way when you post negatively about OBs and Ketch. I left IT after a month because of the constant OB bashing. I hope this board doesn't follow suit.

I can see that getting old though Many of us here have some pent up emotion regarding what has gone down at that site that's still a bit fresh. They also have been in the news a lot with the mack story so them being front and center in discussion is going to bring out peoples feelings about that place. I'm sure that will die down at some point

I wasn't even speaking just about OB. This place gets trashed at IT too

I go to sites for information on Texas sports and to hear from fellow fans/graduates of the University of Texas. The other sites are brutal and to me show a serious lack of class. I personally do not have time for that. I certainly hope this site stays above the frey in that regards.

I think the irony is those that attack Darrell hide behind anonymous handles while Darrell uses his real name for all to see. Darrell is always classy and calls it like he sees it, including if his shared information does not come to fruition. It is a rather petty practice on other boards and I'm definitely glad I've found this place. The other irony is that thus far, Darrell hasn't been wrong. Mack waited a day later than everyone expected to step down, but Darrell called it months ago. Everyone thought Luck was going to be the new AD to the point that Luck was apparently saying his goodbyes to his WVU staff and associates when Patterson's last second interview changed everything. Lastly, Darrell and his sources have stuck by the Saban trajectory which has not yet been proven inaccurate.

time will tell

Well I got a timeout from Ketch last night for asking a legitimate question about why personal attacks are allowed on OB but whenever a question about this is asked of the moderators it is deleted immediately. Geoff replied that he was the only one moderating and he was busy watching the Cowboys game. I had never been banned or even given a warning before. I didn't blast or curse and I was respectful in my post yet I got banned for a week without any explanation of which posting guideline I violated. I'm calling to cancel my sub today.

Over the past year or so, anyone who puts up any topic on OB is boat-raced by those smart-asses who think they're so clever with their self-perceived cynical wit. Then, as Dizz has pointed out, there are those who feel the necessity of trashing anyone who might have inside information or journalistic reporting that doesn't meet their hearts wish or desires.

I want to correspond with my fellow Longhorn fans and if we disagree, we can do it civilly. I almost wish it were a requirement that these boards made each and every poster sign in on Facetime so that everyone could see the person behind the keyboard and correspond with them if they wished. I believe the anonymity that some of these folks enjoy emboldens them to say things they would never say face-to-face.

Hook'em!

Some people just like to b!tch. Give them steak and they complain its not filet mignon. Give them filet and they complain you didn't cut it up for them. Cut it up for them and the complain you didn't chew it up for them. Chew it up and they complain they had to do the hard work and sh!t it out themselves. I had almost this same conversation a few weeks back with Whisenant.

Quite frankly, I don't care. If you don't like what I write, I don't care, its part of a conversation I am having with aaron, McPhaul, Johnny and the rest of the happy band of idiots over here who have signed up and joined in the conversation. McPhaul likes to learn what he can about the program real time and he works to polish it into a writing style he likes. Whisenant likes to follow recruiting and to write about it into a style he is working on. We are just all a bunch of hacks having fun writing because we find it fun and because we want to. The rest of the crew who write pieces or add to threads do so because we want to have a conversation between a group of people we find interesting. If you want to join in, you are more than welcome. If you find Horn Sports boring, one click of the mouse will make it go away.

Chefs deal with idiots who complain their Dover sole was served without ketchup. If he were alive today, Mozart would get bashed because his music lacked a beat that was easy to twerk to. If Hemmingway was sitting in a bar this afternoon waiting for the Alamo Bowl to come on, people would be bashing his books as "tl, dr."

One of the great things about being a fan of UT athletics is that the fanbase is large enough to support multiple sites. Horn Sports certainly isn't a site that appeals to everyone. That's one of the reasons I like it.

Insecure is the magic word. Hopefully McPhaul is right and we can all sit back and watch the fireworks at the end of the week.

I absolutely see where you are coming from dizz but let's not sit here and act like this board doesn't bash the heck out of posters from OB a ton!

You can also make a debate that stealing paid info from their site is worse than running your mouth about them too and this site does that as well a ton as well as the other sites.

Bottom line, everyone is on edge right now and everyone is leaning on people to provide answers and when they get fed bs answers they attack. It's bs but true!

In regards to McPhaul. I have no idea why he gets bashed so much but it's just how it works sometimes. Doesn't sound like it phases him one bit and in fact it feels like he relishes it.

He should be commended for it instead of starting a thread bashing OB for it and doing exactly what you are mocking in this thread.

I love Jesus and that is the reason why I'm on IT. Lately though I've been posting and reading posts more and more over here at HS. You get blasted for anything someone sees as being a little off over at IT. I like to have fun and joke around with people, and most of the time I don't take things too seriously, but HS is just a more enjoyable place to hang out for me.

Every body should be happy for Darrell & HornSports...........OB is just scared that everyone will end up at HS.

While I agree, for me it is not a matter of "right" or "wrong" regarding the "inside" info that is of importance. Let's face it, each of the sites, including HornSports have sources they rely on regarding the current pulse and direction of major decisions within Texas sports. I think part of the problem lies with us as a user base in that we tend to have a "winner/loser" mentality when assessing sites and our proclivity for each. Should Saban not end up at Texas I won't be claiming one site was right or wrong, but I suspect my silence on the matter will be drowned out by hundreds shouting "I told you so!" If it doesn't happen, many will want to assign blame and these "insiders" will get the heat.

I take the sites for what they are, and the info here is FREE. As such, I don't feel the right to bitch if it isn't on target sometimes. I've been hanging around Texas sites since the old Statesman bulletin board days and was a regular on LonghornFanZone and now on BOFZ as "Bevo" and 247 and here as "Bevo11". I've never been on OB, as listening to some of the owners on the radio, it just didn't seem to fit my style. Nothing against them personally, just not a good fit. I like what the guys are trying to do here and for the most part, like BOFZ, it stays more civil than a lot of boards.

People with little or no knowledge of the game have deluded themselves they actually know something. Another scheme analysis by some yahoo who has never stepped on a side line is what dominates this board, as with all others.
They continually rip coaches and players in a knee jerk fashion. Who is the coach de jour? They are 99% anonymous, with vicious, personal attacks on coaches. They seem without ever seeing a single practice to know what second string player should get the most snaps. Then, when it turns out they had no idea in the first place, and the guy really is second string, they'll rip that player. Look no further than John Chiles.

Yet have pantry thin skin themselves. Sheer panties.

McPhaul has a personal hate of Mack, and it permeates his writing mixing any supposed fact with his personal hard on for Mack. The number of coach bashers is phenomenal, and I've yet to see one of the posters have the balls to take criticism themselves without getting their panties in a knot.

It's not writing style - the easiest thing to do is be sarcastic and supposedly witty. True analysis takes work, hours and hours of film study and actually knowing WTF you're talking about.

Some how the delusion of the analysis on boards and radio call in is taken as "hard hitting" and "telling the truth" or "the way I see it". It may be the way you see it and panders to a piss and moan crowd, but has no basis in reality or knowledge.

The truth hurts the piss and moan crowd - next analysis they do have them post their qualifications over being a JV coach at Lampasas. Sitting on your ass watching UT games for 20 years makes you as knowledgeable about x's and o's as it would be making you a legal expert by watching all the Perry Mason episodes on DVD.

You just don't get it, don't like it, and lash out but ain't man enough to take it.
If this is what you think and believe, then why are you here? It's really a simple question and one that does not need a multi paragraph diatribe. Thanks for being succinct.

some of that is right but Mcphaul has a personal hate for Mack? Um ok. Is it a personal hate or a total dislike of what Mack became, and how he's going out to end his career here? Does Mack have any big time defenders left in the fanbase who seriously think he's done a good job here the last several years, think he's leaving the program in good shape, hasn't been a mess behind the scenes, and will be fondly remembered going forward for how he's going out? If there are the number is very small. Thats not hate - its just people having their eyes opened including me.

I was one of Mack's biggest defenders around for years. there is absolutely nothing left to defend, and he's tarnished his rep forever in even the biggest of his supporters eyes.

Is this a serious post or an attitude fit for darkness?

Obviously you have coached or you wouldn't be leading every sentence with the right to have an opinion on Texas football and sports with the "knowledge of X''s and O's". Give me a break. I've been around this program as a fan since 1963 and if by nothing but osmosis, have acquired some pretty clear and concise views on the state of the nation as it applies to Texas sports. I also had a 40 year business career and had the good fortune to achieve the level as an officer in one of the largest food producing companies in the country. I'd argue that the business of running an effective organization in sports share a ton of similarities to that of a corporation. I'd also argue that there are a lot of folks here that share similar business or sports experience that qualifies them to express well thought out opinions relative to Texas sports.

There is stewardship with the TEXAS head coaching job. It is akin to heading Apple or Microsoft. You SIGN UP for results, and you understand that. Had my organization not achieved results like Mack's hasn't for four consecutive years, I'd have been removed. Lastly, I suspect there are plenty here that have played enough football, and been around it enough to be qualified to recognize the presence of a skunk when they smell it.
