Victory + will have 4 State Semis on this weekend. Aledo/Frisco LS, Carthage/Brock, DeSoto/Southlake, Lake Travis/North Shore.

They will have all 12 State Finals next week.

Free app that has Stars and Rangers you can add to a Smart TV or other devices.

Was just about to post that Victory+ is a free streaming app that can be added to your streaming. I was able to add to my Chromecast this evening.

All set to watch my hometown 3A Newton Eagles take on Wall. Wall is now 15-0 and ranked #2 having just out-lasted 3-time defending state champ Gunter in a close one, which amazed me. Gunter is always a tough opponent.

I see West Orange Stark also won tonight, taking down Sinton, and advances. Newton's only loss this season was to West Orange in the second game, 32 to 24. Newton is willing to play up a division in non-district play. West Orange's legendary coach, Dan Hooks, passed away Tue night at age 87. May have inspired the win over Sinton.

I see Hooks' record was 277-71-2, from 1981-2010. I think his program had a lot to do with success of Newton. A division apart, they scheduled often and inspired one another, both coaches and players. I was born in Beaumont (long, long ago!) but living a hour's drive north I always felt a part of the Golden Triangle. Nothing like a drive down 87 (in high school!) across the state line to night clubs. Sounds of rhythm and blues! Can you say Bobbie Blue Bland! Just gave my age away!

As West Orange Stark grew to football prominence, was only fitting Newton did, too.
Who knows, maybe they'll both carry home the trophy next week!
I'll be watching!

Galena Park North Shore 28
Lake Travis 6

Another final of Duncanville and North Shore.

Galena Park North Shore and Sheldon C. E. King are from the same district. They were tied for first place; however, GPNS beat C.E. King during the season, 42-27.

Duncanville and DeSoto are from the same district. Both are tied for first place; however, Duncanville beat DeSoto during the season, 48-28.

The four teams will meet for the state championships in 6A-D1 and 6A-D2. Great football districts.

Our winner this week is SHOTIME, who had only 6 misses. I think this was her first time to participate so Congratulations to her. She'll get a free trip to Gilmer, all expenses paid.

The tie breaker was not needed this week but 63_Texas_1 was closest to the final score of Galena Park North Shore and Lake Travis. He predicted 27-17 GP while the final score was 28-6.

Next week, we'll do a combiniation of HS state championship games and some college bowl games.

How the crew fared . . .

Shotime – 6 misses

SHA – 7 misses

TB14 – 8 misses

63_Texas_1 – 9 misses
