Recently had the chance to speak with Stephen Dixon, a speedster from Houston, TX, and get a few questions answered about him as he drives toward a scholarship offer.
Stephen is slot receiver for the Bulldogs of Houston Reagan, the favorites to win the district championship this year. He's 5-7 160, and runs around a 4.59 in the 40/11.81 in the 100, with a 32†vertical. Defiantly a good base to build off of at the next level. Additionally, Stephen was an Honorable Mention All District selection out of 21-4A his junior year.
Stephen was pretty busy this summer refining his game in 7 on 7, but did camp at North Texas and UTEP, receiving some interest from the staffs. Stephen is fairly open to anyone, but has a top five (in no order) of North Texas, Houston, UT- Arlington, Texas State, and UTSA. The Roadrunners in particular interest Stephen, thought contact has been minimal he'd “love to at least have a shot of earning a scholarshipâ€.
Expectations are already high for the Bulldogs coming into the year, and Stephen sets the bar at it's highest, expecting an unbeaten regular season and a deep playoff run. The staff at Reagan expects to have several players from the 14, 15, and 16 classes go to the next level.
Stephen believes he can play at multiple spots on offense at the next level, and is willing to play defense and special teams as well. On his Hudl, the first highlight is a difficult deep grab of a ball that was a sure touchdown with a little less on it. Several things jump out at me, the most important being his ability to catch anything that gets in the area. QB's need a guy who can make the tough grabs, and thats Stephen. Even at 160lbs, the young man does not shy away from contact and gets open.
You'll also notice him working back to his quarterback when things break down, never quitting on plays and turning sacks into first downs. These are skills the Bulldogs will need in the playoffs. You can watch his highlights here: Stephen Dixon - Highlight Videos, Schedule & Roster - Hudl
