Hiring timeline, NS involvement

Okay, don't shoot the messenger, as no, I am not anywhere as connected as McPhaul.

But I'm going to pass along info I received today from a trusted friend, who got his info from a regent source:

1) Patterson wants to announce our new Hc on Jan. 6, the day of the BCS Championship, so that current commits and potential flips/recruits will see it (maximum exposure that day).

2) Saban is still in play. Via Sexton, it is supposedly arranged for Nick to interview with Patterson et al on Jan. 3, the day after Bama's bowl game with OU. This gives Nick cover from the orchestra in order to prepare his team for the game, and not have to answer questions about the Texas job, again, like during our last circus.

Do I believe this all? Yes, it could happen. Is it 100%? Of course not, no one can be 100% except Steve Patterson.

I do believe that Steve Patterson will hire a great HC for our great University.

If it's Saban, that's great. If it's someone else, then that's great too.

McPhaul, Mr. Cosell, Shaunsters, etc: please feel free to chime in, corroborate, refute.

Just relaying what I was told. Again, don't shoot the messenger. Just felt like y'all would want to know, as I have too much other work going on to take time to "create news" like some other sites. If it comes to fruition, then HS (and BOFZ) will have been on it first.

...ok, now before we decide to "dick cheney" the messenger, may you please explain this...

everyone, including their greasy grannies... are going to be watching nick sabans every move immediately after the sugar bowl. just how... not to mention where, will he be able to formally interview with patterson regarding the texas hc position? i mean, can you just imagine all of the awaiting "billboards" that tuscaloosa shall be preparing to throw at us...

additionally, i for one, would go along with the pronouncement of the new head coaching hire, as per the university of texas upon the date of the bcs bowl championship... this shall be nothing less than a complete bold stroke of genius as per steve patterson. this monumental approach, shall all but ensure nothing but maximum exposure throughout the day / night... which shall intrigue as well as fascinate recruits everywhere.

I would prefer to be in the dark on the coaching search rather than have information from insider reports surface in the mainstream media and lead coaches to sign extensions and have to make verbal denials. It's like the people with information have forgotten what happened last week.

Why wouldn't Patterson be able to interview Saban in New Orleans on Jan. 3rd? If not, Patterson can meet with Saban in Sexton's Memphis office. It can and will be done if St. Nick is interested.
