Herman to LSU

I just may be a Frog tomorrow. Never thought I'd say something like that, but damn, just damn.

While I can't go that far, I will say that I have never been more excited for a season to be over and less excited to watch the Longhorns ever.

LSU, Houston coach Tom Herman close to deal, per sources

LSU has zeroed in on Houston's Tom Herman as the Tigers' next head coach and could have a deal in place as early as Saturday, sources told ESPN.

USA Today Sports reported that Herman met with LSU officials in Houston Thursday afternoon.

Florida State's Jimbo Fisher was also near the top of LSU's wish list, after being targeted last year when it looked like Les Miles might be fired. But LSU's search over the past few days shifted more from Fisher to Herman.

Herman, in his second season as Houston's coach, was also thought to be a top candidate at Texas if the Longhorns fire Charlie Strong. Herman's Cougars plays their final regular-season game on Friday against Memphis, while LSU is playing its final regular-season game tonight against Texas A&M.

Texas president Gregory Fenves' preference has been to keep Strong, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach, and the odds of Strong returning for a fourth season are expected to increase dramatically if Herman is no longer available. The Longhorns need to beat TCU on Friday to finish 6-6 and become bowl eligible.

Ed Orgeron has guided LSU for the bulk of this season after Miles was fired on Sept. 25 following an 18-13 loss to Auburn. The Tigers are 4-2 under Orgeron, who was also a candidate for the full-time job.
Apparently Fenves has attempted to Sabotage Herman to keep Strong.. WW3 has broke out.. Fenves may not survive this.

Fenves is an academic President.  Does he even realize just how bad losing Kansas is?  I doubt it.

Some of y'all need to relax. It's not as dire as you think.

Come on folks. Think about the timing of tonight's announcement.

1. Shortly before LSU plays a prime time Thanksgiving night game.

2. Reported first by Chip

3. Run on the ESPN ticker throughout the evening

4. Discussed by the booth announcers at the game

5. Discussed at HT by ESPN studio guys.

6. Now later at night ESPN saying, well, it may not be as much of an option as earlier reported.

This has agent posturing all over it if you slow your freak out and step back.

I can understand that as well Rotty but keeping Charlie for another year is pretty much the same thing
whoever the administration elects to coach this team, i will be behind them 100%

This is Strong's/Fenves team if all this comes about. It will no longer be the fans team.
<===  it will always be this fans team.

Sure don't know how I feel bout him. He has some terrible losses this year. And close wins that should have been blow outs. Could easily be another CS.

Which most journalists have forgotten Journalism 101.

Know your source's motivation.

This goes for anything. If you have a politician/staff, agent, AD, coach, etc., feeding you anonymous information, why are they doing it? They are typically not doing it out of their own sense of morality. They want to control the message through a neutral 3rd party.

However, journalism today is "Get the story out first" because research shows that when you're first, site traffic blows up. You don't have the luxury of waiting until print time to get the story right, 24 hour news and the internet has ruined that mentality.

The old tenets of Journalism aren't rewarded by consumers today, so it's all about content and how much buzz you can generate to stay relevant. Herman is the media focus right now, and his agent/Herman himself is soaking it up to get the big paycheck.
